HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lady Railsplitter tennis team faces a pair of big tests this weekend as they host 45th-ranked Wingate Saturday morning and UVa-Wise Sunday Morning.
LMU comes into the weekend with a 4-0 record, which is their best start since the 2011-12 season.
In singles play,
Marta Pinol (Tivenys, Spain) and
Julia Loos (Frankfurt, Germany) enter the weekend with 4-0 records, while
Javiera Gonzalez (Santiago, Chile) and
Angelica Solano (Bogotá, Colombia) have 3-0 records.
Roksolana Prudyvus (Lviv, Ukraine) has a 2-1 record.
The duo of Loos and
Johanna Delisse (Oss, the Netherlands) have a 3-0 record at doubles, while Pinol and Prudyvus have a 3-1 record.
Priscilla Bulandres (Markham, Ontario) and
Kiersten Waugh (London, Ontario) have a 2-2 record at doubles.
Wingate, the defending SAC Champion, is currently 4-1 overall and 2-0 in SAC play with wins over Mars Hill and Catawba. LMU is 0-8 vs. the Bulldogs in the
Benny Collins era.
UVa-Wise enters the weekend with an 8-8 record. This is the first match for the Cavaliers since a loss to West Liberty in the Mountain East Conference Tournament in October. LMU is 1-0 vs. the Cavs in the
Benny Collins era, but this is the first time the two teams have met (after several scheduled matches were cancelled due to weather) since UVa-Wise joined the NCAA Division II in 2013.
