HARROGATE, Tenn. – Despite a win at No. 2 doubles, No. 45 Wingate overpowered the LMU women's tennis team 8-1 Saturday at the LMU Tennis Complex.

LMU falls to 4-1 on the season and 1-1 in the South Atlantic Conference.

Wingate took the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to go ahead 2-0 in the match. LMU's duo of Johanna Delisse (Oss, The Netherlands) and Julia Loos (Frankfurt, Germany) overcame WU's Oroma Womeodu/Maria Garcia 9-8 after breaking a 7-7 tie in the tiebreaker to win the tiebreaker 9-7.

In singles, WU coasted to wins in the No. 1, 2, 5 and 6 sets, although the No. 6 flight between Angelica Solano (Bogota, Colombia) went to a third set. The No. 4 and 5 flights were played under speedup rules once the match was decided, and Wingate took those by 8-6 decisions.

Next up is a match vs. Uva-Wise tomorrow at Noon.
