HARROGATE, Tenn. – The LMU tennis teams will make the short trip to Tusculum for a pair of important South Atlantic Conference matchups on Saturday.
The Lady Railsplitters are currently 5-1 on the season and 1-1 in SAC play. They are led by
Marta Pinol (Tivenys, Spain) and
Julia Loos (Frankfurt, Germany), both of whom have 5-1 records.
Javiera Gonzalez (Santiago, Chile) and
Angelica Solano (Bogota, Colombia) both enter the weekend with 4-1 records in singles play.
In doubles action the duo of Loos and
Johanna Delisse (Oss, The Netherlands) are a perfect 5-0 on the year and 2-0 in SAC play. Pinol and
Roksolana Prudyvus (Lviv, Ukraine) are 4-2 overall and 1-1 in SAC play.
Tusculum enters the weekend with a 5-3 overall and 3-0 SAC record, with the SAC wins coming over Mars Hill, Brevard and Lenoir-Rhyne. Last season the Pioneers went 19-5 and finished second in the SAC. In the
Benny Collins era, Tusculum leads the series 6-4.
The Railsplitters are 5-2 on the season and 1-1 in SAC play.
David Segarra (Sabadell, Spain) and
Pepe Batalla (Barcelona, Spain) lead the way with 7-0 records on the season and both are 2-0 in SAC play.
Xavier Marti (Tortosa, Spain) is 5-1 and also 2-0 in SAC play on the season.
Joshua Peress (Montreal, Quebec) is 5-2 on the season while
Moritz Hoerner (Erlangen, Germany) has a 4-3 overall record.
In doubles, Batalla and Segarra are 5-2 overall and 1-1 in SAC play.
Jake Tuchmann (Kennesaw, Ga.) and
Carlos Zunino (Samborondon, Ecuador) are 4-2 overall.
Tusculum is 6-2 overall and also 3-0 in the SAC. The Pioneers were 19-4 last season and were SAC Co-Champions. LMU is 3-5 against TC in the
Benny Collins era.
After Saturday's match, LMU plays at Union on March 6 and hosts Mars Hill on March 8.
