Quick Hits:

- Lincoln Memorial lost two of three matchups to Coker to open its home SAC schedule. Russell Clark (Wexford, Pa.) launched a two-run home run in the first inning in Friday's opener, but the Railsplitters failed to score again and ultimately lost 4-2. Ethan Elliot (Knoxville, Tenn.) went the distance in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader to lead the Railsplitters past the Cobras 5-3. Timmy Wages (Molin, Ill.) and Logan Augustine (Urbandale, Iowa) homered in the rubber match to stake Lincoln Memorial to a 4-0 lead, but the offense again stalled late as Coker came from behind to win 6-4.

- Augustine (Urbandale, Iowa) went 5-for-12 with a solo home run to raise his average to a team-best .368. His six home runs also lead the team and are already a career high. Augustine also has recorded the most hits (25), doubles (6), RBI (21) and runs scored (23) and has reached base safely in all 19 games.

- Mason Ewers (Kingsport, Tenn.) had another quiet weekend, going just 1-for-7. He is hitting just .158 (3-for-19) in six SAC contests but is still second on the team in hits (23), average (.343) and runs scored (16) due to a .417 average in nonconference play. Ewers' seven stolen bases and nine attempts lead all Railsplitters.

- Wages went 3-for-7 in three games against Coker with a three-run homer to extend his on-base streak to 14 games.  He went 0-for-1 in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader yet reached base four times courtesy of three hit-by-pitches and a walk. Wages' weekend raised his team-leading on base percentage to .538. His 11 hit-by-pitches lead the entire South Atlantic Conference, and he is tied with Augustine for the team lead in walks (15). His 20 RBI are also second on the team.

- Lincoln Memorial scored in the first inning twice in the Coker series and has done so in 11 of 19 games. Despite outscoring opponents 24-12 in the first inning thus far, the Railsplitters are just 3-8 in games they have scored in the first. The team has a similar 3-8 record when scoring the game's first run.

- Ethan Elliott (Knoxville, Tenn.) bounced back from his uncharacteristically rough start at Brevard to pick up his second win of the season. He went the distance for his second career nine-inning complete game and allowed just three runs (two earned) and seven hits. He also struck out eight. In five starts Elliott is 2-2 with a 3.56 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 30.1 innings.

- Dominic Morabito (Vienna, Va.) made just his second career start on the mound for the Railsplitters Saturday against Coker and first of 2017. He tossed three scoreless innings before allowing a two-run homer in the fourth. For the year, Morabito has a 2.20 ERA in 16.1 innings with 20 strikeouts over seven appearances.

Notes on the Knights:

- Bellarmine won two of its three matchups over Alderson Broaddus over the weekend at Knights Field. The Knights used a five-run fifth inning in the opener to overcome a 3-1 deficit to win 6-4. Alderson Broaddus again jumped ahead early in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader and held on for the 5-3 win. Drew Greenwood doubled home the go-ahead run for the Knights in the bottom of the eighth in Sunday's rubber game to give Bellarmine the 4-3 win.

- Alex Phillips went 5-for-11 in the Alderson Broaddus series with two of the team's three multi-hit efforts (Drew
Greenwood went 2-for-5 in the series finale for the other one). He now has five multi-hit games in nine starts and leads the Knights with a .419 average. Phillips has also made four starts on the mound, going 1-0 with a 6.08 ERA.

- Second baseman Alex Ralph has hit .381 and leads the team in hits (16) and stolen bases (3). He hit a modest 2-for-7 in the Alderson Broaddus series but reached base five times in 10 plate appearances. He did not record an official at bat in Saturday's loss but walked three times and stole two bases.

- Griffin Neuer leads the Knights with 12 RBI in 12 games. He is one hit behind Ralph and is batting .375. He went 2-for-6 against Alderson Broaddus with three walks. His bases-loaded walk in Saturday's series opener brought in the go-ahead run as part of Bellarmine's five-run rally.

- Phillips, Hunter Spencer and Eddie Mathis have combined to make all of the Knights' starts on the mound, making four starts apiece. The trio has combined to go 3-5 with a 5.34 ERA. Spencer has been the most consistent of the bunch. He is 1-3 with a 4.63 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 23.1 innings and has pitched at least five innings in each start.

- Bellarmine's relievers are a combined 4-0. Five relievers are yet to allow an earned run this year, led by Will Birch, who is 2-0 with seven strikeouts in 5.2 innings across four appearances. He pitched 2.2 perfect innings to pick up the win in Sunday's series finale.

- The Knights have struggled mightily in the second and eighth innings and have been outscored 27-5 between the two. Bellarmine has outscored opponents 60-42 in all other innings.

Series History:

- The Railsplitters hold a 13-12 series edge over Bellarmine, with the Knights holding a 5-3 advantage since the series was renewed in 2010.

- The teams have split each of the last three doubleheaders. The most recent matchup came in 2016 in Harrogate. Lincoln Memorial took the first game 12-8. The Knights scored four runs in the sixth inning of the second game to win 15-11. Augustine went 5-for 6 and reached base eight total times in nine plate appearances between the two games, while Neuer and Phillips combined to go 9-for-16 with four RBI and five runs scored.

- This is just Lincoln Memorial's second trip to Bellarmine since 1998. The only other time was in 2014. The teams split that doubleheader.
