CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Lincoln Memorial University men's soccer team is on the home stretch of its regular season. With two South Atlantic Conference matches remaining, the fifth-seeded Railsplitters (7-3-3, 4-2-2 SAC) travel to the No. 2-seeded Royals (9-3-1, 6-2) for a clash that could determine a final top-4 seed in the conference tournament starting next week.

Quick Hits

- For the third time this season, LMU let a match slip away that the Railsplitters had full control of until late as they played to a double-overtime, 1-1, draw with Coker at home on Senior Day Saturday.

- The Railsplitters' Victor Peres continued his masterful season, scoring his team-leading 10th goal, which is also tied for the best in the SAC. The senior paces the league with 23 points and ranks third in shots with 43.

- Peres' fellow Brazilian teammate Felipe de Sousa was the one to assist his goal, giving de Sousa his team and conference-leading seventh assist.

- The senior Peres' 23 points leads the Railsplitters, while de Sousa is next with 11. Miguel Reis follows with eight while Matteo Bufalo is next with seven.

- LMU, however, will be without de Sousa and graduate student Edwin Vaas after the pair was given a red card after a scuffle that broke out in the final minutes of the Coker match. Key defender Andrea Cantoni is also in question after leaving that same game with an injury that appeared serious.

- Senior goalkeeper Caleb Cothrin is fifth in the league in goal against (18) and fourth in goals-against average (1.33).

Know the Opponent

- Since losing their first back-to-back SAC matches to Lenoir-Rhyne and Carson Newman, 3-2 and 3-1 respectively, the Royals have been cruising.

- Sitting in second place, Queens has defeated Wingate and Newberry for a combined 9-1 over the past two games before hosting the fiery Railsplitters.

- The Royals have two of the top-5 goal leaders in the conference in Edmundo Robinson, who sits in second with eight goals, and Alberto Morales, who is right behind his teammate with seven.

- Robinson also a conference-second best five assists to compliment his eight scores, which is tied for the second-most 21 points in the conference. Morales follows with 16 points paired with his seven goals and two assists.

- Sebastian Kalk, the Royal goalkeeper, is one spot ahead of Cothrin with the fourth-best goals-against average (1.12) and is tied third in goals against with 14. The junior is also third in save percentage (.754).

Head-to-Head

- These two teams played in 1994 and 1995 before not seeing each other on the playing field again until 2012.

- The last time the SAC foes squared off was this past Sept. 16, 2017, when the two played to a double-overtime, 3-3, draw at the LMU Soccer Complex.

- In the series, the Royals own the 5-3-1 advantage and haven't surrendered a match to the Railsplitters since LMU took the 2-1 home victory in 2015. This is also the first time the two squads will play in October since '14 after the originally September match was rescheduled due to Hurricane Florence.
