HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lincoln Memorial University baseball team is set for early-week matchups Monday at the new Lamar Hennon Field against Virginia-Wise (1-4) and Tuesday at Erskine (5-2). Both will be single nine-inning games. The Railsplitters (4-2) swept Friday's home-opening doubleheader against Ohio Valley with a combined score of 30-2. The final game of that series was canceled due to weekend rain. The UVa-Wise game was added Sunday following the cancellation.

- Lincoln Memorial swept both ends of Friday's doubleheader against the Ohio Valley in the team's 2018 debut at the new Lamar Hennon Field. The Railsplitters combined to outscore Ohio Valley 30-2 and outhit the Fighting Scots 28-6 over the two games as they won the nine-inning opener 12-1 and the seven-inning back end 18-1.

Tyler Adams (3-for-3, 3 RBI) and
Seth Hunt (2-for-3, 3 R) were the offensive catalysts for Lincoln Memorial in game one. Both reached base five times and played a role in eight of the team's runs. In addition to the three hits, Adams was hit by a pitch twice, stole a base and scored a run. Hunt walked three times, drove in a run on a triple and also stole a base.

Nate Stinson (2-for-2, 3 R, 3 RBI) and
Logan Augustine (3-for-3) starred offensively for the Railsplitters in the back end of the doubleheader. Stinson homered, reached base three times and added a sac fly. Augustine hit safely in all three of his at-bats, scored twice and added an RBI.
Timmy Wages and
Chris Salvey also went deep.
- Railsplitter pitchers have accumulated 66 strikeouts in 50.1 innings.
Ethan Elliott leads the team in that department with 20 in 13 innings with back-to-back 10-strikeout performances to start the season. LMU pitching has struck out at least 11 batters in four of the team's six games with the other two totals at seven and nine.
- Lincoln Memorial's offense has come to life over the team's three-game win streak with an average of 17 runs per game. The team has outscored opponents 51-6 over those games with run totals of 21, 12 and 18.
- Augustine has reached safely in all six games to extend his on-base streak to 32. The NCBWA Preseason All-American went 4-for-4 in Friday's doubleheader to raise his average to .348.
- Adams leads the Railsplitters in hits (9), average (.500), doubles (4), stolen bases (3) and hit-by-pitches (4). He is also tied for the team lead in RBI (6) along with Wages and
Muta Crusoe. Adams and Wages are tied for the team lead with eight runs scored.
- Wages has already gone deep four times in six games. No other LMU player has homered more than once.
Notes on Virginia-Wise:
- The Cavaliers have lost three in a row, including a doubleheader sweep Friday at Carson-Newman. The team also lost two of three games in its season-opening series at St. Augustine's University.
- UVa-Wise struck out a combined 30 times in Friday's doubleheader. The team struck out 14 times in game one and 16 times in game two.
- UVa-Wise was limited to four hits in the series-opening loss. Matthew Branham collected two singles. A Brett Yates RBI double was the lone extra-base hit of the game for the Cavaliers. Stuart Paz also drove in a run on a single.
- Josh Haga recorded two of the Cavaliers' five hits in game two—both singles—and drove in a run. David Thomas launched a two-run homer to account for the team's only other runs.
- UVa-Wise is hitting just .187 as a team. Haga leads the team in hits (5) and average (.500) in just 10 at-bats. Thomas has the team's only home run.
- The Cavaliers open their season with nine road games before playing at home for the first time February 28.
Notes on Erskine:
- The Flying Fleet completed a three-game sweep of Cedarville Thursday and Friday. Erskine exploded for nine runs in the first inning of game one Thursday and held on for a 13-9 victory. The second game of Thursday's scheduled doubleheader was halted in the eighth inning due to darkness with Erskine leading 9-2. The team eventually won 9-3 when the game was resumed Friday. The Flying Fleet won the final game 10-2.
- Chaz Davey went 7-for-14 (.500) over the three games with two homers, 3 RBI and four runs scored. Four of those hits came in a 4-for-5 performance in the team's 9-3 win.
- Billy Ryan is also batting over .400 at .407 (11-for-27) and leads the team in RBI (12), runs scored (8), doubles (4) and walks (6). He went 5-for-13 over the weekend, which was highlighted by a 3-for-5, six-RBI performance which included a home run, two doubles, two runs scored and a stolen base in the team's 13-9 win.
- Kyle Heiss leads the team with three home runs. Two came in a 3-for-4, two-homer, seven-RBI performance in the 10-2 win.
- Drew Yniesta is 9-for-19 at the plate to lead the Flying Fleet in average (.474). He batted 4-for-5 over the three games and reached base safely in nine of 11 plate appearances with a home run, double, three walks and two hit-by-pitches. In one of the two times he did not reach, he hit a sac fly.
- Erskine is 5-1 at home with the three-game sweep of Cedarville and a season-opening series win over Mars Hill. The team has only played one road game, which was a 7-2 loss to Wingate.
- The Flying Fleet pitching staff has racked up 75 strikeouts in 57 innings.
Series History:
- Lincoln Memorial is 5-0 all-time against UVa-Wise with all meetings occurring between 2014 and 2016. The Railsplitters have scored at least 10 runs in all five matchups. The Cavaliers' only previous trip to Harrogate was February 11, 2014 in an 11-6 LMU win.
- Tuesday will mark the first-ever meeting between LMU and Erskine. The Flying Fleet will travel to Harrogate for a single nine-inning game on Wednesday, March 21.
