NEWBERRY, S.C. – The Lincoln Memorial University baseball team resumes South Atlantic Conference play this weekend at Newberry (11-12, 4-5 SAC) with a chance to win its third straight conference series. The Railsplitters (16-7, 4-5 SAC) have taken two out of three from Anderson and Tusculum over the past two weekends. LMU dropped last Friday's opener 5-3 to Tusculum but swept Saturday's doubleheader by scores of 4-0 and 15-7. The Wolves have lost three straight after dropping two of three at Lenoir-Rhyne last weekend and falling 10-6 at Erskine Wednesday.

- LMU opened its three-game series against Tusculum with a 5-3 loss Friday evening. The Railsplitters outhit Tusculum 8-6 for the game. All three runs and four of those hits came in the sixth inning.
Tyler Adams went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and scored and drove in a run.
Timmy Wages reached base three times with an RBI double and two walks.
Seth Hunt (2-for-5) singled twice.
Joe Stucky hit his second home run of the year.
- The Railsplitters won Saturday's nine-inning game 4-0 behind
Joe Bobiak's one-hit, complete game shutout. Tusculum led off the game with a single, but the Pioneers were held hitless the rest of the way. Bobiak improved to 5-0 and struck out six en route to his first complete game as a Railsplitter. The lefty was staked to an early lead after
Nate Stinson's bases-loaded single in the bottom of the first drove in two runs. The Railsplitters' other two runs came on back-to-back solo shots by
Chris Salvey and
Henry Moore in the bottom of the fourth.
- The team used an eight-run third inning to win Saturday's nightcap 15-7. All nine LMU starters recorded at least one hit, and the Railsplitters tallied 15 total.
Will Reddick (3-for-3) reached base four times and was a home run short of the cycle. Four other LMU players had two hits:
Logan Augustine (2-for-4, 2 R, 3 RBI, HR), Adams (2-for-4, 2B, HR), Salvey (2-for-3, 2B, 4 RBI) and Stinson (2-for-3, 2 R). Hunt (1-for-4) also drove in a pair of runs.
- Augustine leads all LMU regular starters in batting average (.429), hits (36), stolen bases (8) and runs scored (32). He is also tied for the team lead in RBI (23) and second in home runs (5). Augustine has 12 multi-hit games on the year and has belted four home runs over his past six games.
- Adams is the only Railsplitter to reach base in all 23 games this season and 26 straight dating back to last season. He has also hit safely in 13 straight. The sophomore shortstop is batting .410 and leads the team in doubles (14) and on-base percentage (.544). He is also tied for the team lead in RBI and is second with 31 hits. Adams' 14 doubles rank second nationally.
- LMU boasts the top two leaders in the SAC in batting average in Augustine and Adams. Adams leads the conference in doubles and on-base percentage.
- Lincoln Memorial averages 10.0 runs and 12.0 hits per game for the season. Those totals increase to 11.2 runs and 13.1 hits at home. The Railsplitters have totaled at least 10 hits in 15 of 23 games overall and nine of 14 at home.

Timmy Wages has connected for six of the team's 23 home runs. Augustine is the only player (5) with more than two.
- LMU pitching has been solid for the most part with a cumulative 3.85 ERA. Starting pitchers are a combined 11-2 with a 3.06 ERA. Bobiak is 5-0 with a 1.75 ERA in six starts with Elliott is 2-2 with a 2.70 ERA.
- The team has collected 200 strikeouts through 189.1 innings (9.51 K/9). Elliott leads with 49 strikeouts in 36.2 innings.
Dominic Morabito has 31 in 21.2 innings.
Notes on Newberry:
- The Wolves have lost two of their three SAC series. Newberry opened conference play by dropping two of three at home to Carson-Newman. The team next took two of three at Mars Hill before losing two of three at Lenoir-Rhyne last weekend.
- Newberry fell behind 10-3 at Erskine Wednesday before scoring three runs in the ninth to lose 10-6. They were outhit by the Flying Fleet 17-8. Derek Olenchuk and Dalton Hyman had two hits apiece. Olenchuk drove in a pair while Hyman stole two bases.
- Newberry won last Friday's series opener over Lenoir-Rhyne 11-1. Olenchuk led the way offensively with four hits and a pair of RBI for the Wolves. Colin Allman and Tyler White had three hits apiece. All 17 of the team's hits were singles. Evan Estridge earned his first win of the year with one run allowed in seven innings.
- Lenoir-Rhyne swept Saturday's doubleheader by scores of 7-4 and 6-4. The Bears overcame 4-2 deficits in both games. White provided most of Newberry's offense in the first game with a three-run home run while Allman drove in three runs in the nightcap.
- Olenchuk is third among SAC players in hits (41) and tied for second in RBI (32). He is third in batting average (.406) behind Augustine and Adams. Olenchuk has had seven straight multi-hit games and is batting .529 over that span with 13 RBI.
- Allman leads the Wolves in home runs (5) and runs scored (27) and is second in RBI (28). He is the only Newberry player to reach base safely in all 23 games. He is third on the team with a .391 average and leads the team in doubles (9).
- Danton Hyman is third on the SAC in stolen bases (12) after swiping two on Wednesday. He also leads the team in on-base percentage (.509). Hyman is second on the team with a .400 batting average and is tied with Allman for second in hits (36).
- Newberry starting pitchers have accumulated a 7-5 record and 4.80 ERA. Estridge (1-2, 4.21 ERA), Ryan Harbin (2-1, 3.71) and Dylan Southerland (3-1, 6.75) have each made six starts.
- The Newberry pitching staff owns a 5.38 ERA overall. This includes a 5.11 mark in SAC play.
