Tennis teams close out regular season against L-R at high noon Saturday in the Indoor Facility

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The LMU tennis teams close out the regular season this Saturday as they host Lenoir-Rhyne in the Indoor Tennis Facility at noon. It will be Senior Day, and LMU will be honoring seniors Javiera Gonzalez, Angelica Solano, Julia Zellner, Joshua Peress and Carlos Zunino prior to the matches.

LMU's women are currently 12-6 overall and 5-4 in South Atlantic Conference play following wins at King and Mars Hill earlier this week. They have already locked up the fifth-seed in next week's SAC Tournament and will play at either Newberry or Queens next Tuesday in the quarterfinal round.

Zellner leads the team with her 15-3 overall record and a 7-2 record against SAC opposition. Solano is 15-5 and 6-3, while Julia Valls is 14-8 overall. In doubles, the duo of Valls and Kristin Vogel are 8-2, both overall and in conference play.

Lenoir-Rhyne is 11-8 overall and 3-6 in the SAC and are the eight-seed in the upcoming tournament. Emily Murchand is 11-6 overall and 5-4 in SAC play while Sara Kalkenova is 10-8 and 4-5. In doubles, Sanne Janssen and Murchland are the team to beat as they have an 11-8 overall record.

The Railsplitters are 11-6 overall and 6-3 in the SAC. They are currently tied for third with Newberry, but hold a tiebreaker with the Wolves due to LMU's win there a couple weeks ago.

Constantin Erntsberger is 16-5 on the season and 7-2 in SAC play. Peress is 15-6 and 6-3, while David Segarra is 15-4 and 7-2 this season. Peress and Segarra lead the way in doubles with an impressive 16-4 record and are also 8-1 in SAC play. They are the first doubles pair at LMU to reach the 16-win plateau since Marcelo Alvim and Will Sparks went 16-3 in 2013.

The Bears are currently 13-7 overall and 4-5 in the SAC. They are tied for seventh place with Coker. Alex Ayguavives is 11-9 on the season and 3-6 in SAC play. Tales Miranda is 10-8 overall and 6-3 against SAC opposition. Paul Lenz is also 6-3 vs. SAC opponents and has a 9-6 overall record. In doubles, Miranda and Alex Crespo Sanchez lead the Bears with their 12-5 overall and 5-4 SAC record.

The SAC Tournament begins next week, with the top four seeds hosting quarterfinal round matches. The women will play on Tuesday and the men on Wednesday. The winners will advance to the semifinals and finals, which will be played at the Cayce Tennis Center in Columbia, S.C. April 20-21.
