LMU seeks fourth straight win as they host Lenoir-Rhyne Saturday afternoon

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The LMU women's basketball team will be seeking their fourth-straight win as they host Lenoir-Rhyne in a South Atlantic Conference matchup Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Tex Turner Arena.

LMU is currently 9-6 on the season and 5-3 in SAC play following their 76-70 win at Mars Hill Wednesday evening. The Lions, who are winless in SAC play, gave LMU all they wanted and then some as they went out to an early lead only to see the Lady Railsplitters pull ahead. Mars Hill then tied the game late but LMU pulled ahead in the final minutes to pick up their third straight win.

Emily Griffith exploded for 25 points, while Rachel Griffith added in 18. Maggie Jachimczuk chipped in a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds. Shayla Smith led the Lions with 13 points.

Following this game, LMU will face Tusculum for the first time this season as they host the Pioneers Wednesday evening.
 
SERIES HISTORY
· LMU trails in the series 15-9. LMU has won five of the last six. One weird feature of this series is that LMU is 6-6 in Hickory but only 3-9 in the Tex Turner Arena. In the Krystal Evans era, LMU is 5-3 in the series.

· The last time the two schools met was on Jan. 27, 2018 in Harrogate. LMU struggled from the field all game while the Bears couldn't do much wrong as they led from wire to wire in a 74-55 win. Rachel Griffith led LMU with 14 points while the Bears were led by Madi Suddreth (14 pts) and Kendall Toineeta (13 pts). 
 
SCOUTING LENOIR-RHYNE
· The Bears are currently 9-7 overall and 4-4 in SAC play and are riding a two game win streak with wins over Mars Hill (80-70) and Coker (77-61).

· A pair of seniors are leading the way for L-R as Madi Suddreth averages 15.3 points and a team-high 6.8 rebounds a game. She also is second in the SAC in made field goals and field goal percentage. Kendall Toineeta is averaging 11.3 points, 5.2 assists a game and 2.3 steals a game.

· As a team, Lenoir-Rhyne are outscoring their opponents 67.0 to 64.1 points a game, and are narrowly out-rebounding by their opponents by a +1.0 margin.

· The Bears lead the SAC in free throw percentage and are second in assists per game.

· Head Coach Cameron Sealey is in her second year as head coach at Lenoir-Rhyne. The former All-SAC performer is currently 24-21 at her alma-mater and has coaching experience at Wofford, Georgia State, USC-Aiken and Pittsburgh-Johnstown.
 
SCOUTING LMU
· Head Coach Krystal Evans is in her fifth season at LMU. She has an 86-49 overall record.
 
· LMU is seeing double as both Emily Griffith and her twin sister Rachel currently lead the team in scoring, with Emily edging out Rachel 16.3 points a game to 14.1. In conference games they flip spots as Rachel is averaging 17.1 points to Emily's 16.9. Dasia Maxwell has 7.9 and Sydney Newsome and Sydney Duggins each have 7.8 points a game.
 
· Rebounding is a team effort this season as Newsome leads the team in rebounds with 5.4 a game, while Maggie Jachimczuk has a 5.1 per game average. Shermeria Quarles and Emily Griffith are close behind with 4.8. while Dasia Maxwell (4.5), Addi Kirkpatrick (4.3) are averaging over four rebounds a game.  
 
· Emily Griffith leads the team with 3.7 assists a game while Rachel is averaging 1.9 steals a game. 
 
· LMU has four of the top 12 three-point shooters in the SAC, as Lindsay Proffitt (45.9) and Sydney Duggins (45.5) are first and second in the conference, respectively. Rachel Griffith is 10th and Dasia Maxwell ranks 12th.
 
· As a team, LMU is averaging 76.1 points a game while holding opponents to 73.1. They are out-rebounding opponents by a margin of +6.4 a game.
 
· LMU leads the SAC in three-point percentage, made free throws a game and offensive rebounds per game. They are second in points per game, field goal attempts, and total rebounds per game. They rank third in points and made field goals per game; and rank fourth in rebound margin.
