LMU returns home for Saturday SAC matchup with Royals

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The LMU women's basketball team returns home to open up February with a two game South Atlantic Conference home stand. First up is the Royals from Queens University Saturday at 2 p.m.

The Lady Railsplitters are 12-7 overall and 8-4 in SAC play on the season, ranking them third in the SAC standings behind Anderson and Wingate.

In their last outing LMU had the best of Carson-Newman for 35 minutes, but a five minute stretch of the second half allowed the Eagles to build a 19-point lead that LMU was unable to overcome, although they cut it to two points early in the fourth quarter.

Lindsay Proffitt had 18 points to lead LMU, Emily Griffith had 17 and Rachel Griffith 14 points. Cameryn DuBose had 11 rebounds to lead all players.

Following this game, LMU will return to the Tex Turner Arena for a key SAC matchup against Anderson next Wednesday at 6 p.m.
 
SERIES HISTORY
· LMU currently dominates the series 15-3, including a 10-1 record in SAC play after QU joined the SAC in 2013. That one loss was on Feb. 20, 2016, when LMU lost 58-52 in Charlotte. All of LMU's losses to QU have been in Charlotte.
 
· The last meeting in Charlotte was on Dec. 8, 2018 as a pair of three-pointers by Sydney Newsome and five quick points by Dasia Maxwell midway through the third quarter broke open what had been a nip-and-tuck contest as Lincoln Memorial University held off a late Queens rally to pick up the 82-78 win. Rachel Griffith led all scorers on the afternoon with 22 points, including an impressive 10-15 from the free throw line for the game. Newsome ended the day with 15 points, including three three-pointers. Dasia Maxwell came off the bench to have 14 points and a team-high seven rebounds while Maggie Jachimczuk chipped in 13 points. Lade Adepoju led the Royals with 20 points, while Jaymi Golden chipped in 14.
 
· In their last meeting in Harrogate, on Feb 24, 2018, Queens almost royally spoiled LMU's Senior Day as they took an early lead and held it for most of the game before the Lady Railsplitters rallied from 12 down to force overtime. LMU then dominated the extra frame 10-2 to claim the 66-58 win. Emily Griffith and Jordan Brightwell led LMU with 13 points each, with Ross Mathis chipping in 10 points. Emily also led LMU with nine rebounds. Lade Adepoju led QU with 17 points, Mendy McNeese had 12, while Herning Wang and Kristian Eanes each chipped in 11.
 
SCOUTING QUEENS
· Queens enters the game with a 6-12 overall record and a 1-11 SAC record. They have lost their last three games, all SAC contests, to Wingate, Anderson and Lenoir-Rhyne and their lone SAC win is against Mars Hill.

· The Royals have four players averaging double-figures, led by Lade Adepoju with 13.8 points a game. Kristian Eanes is second with 10.7 ppg while Jaymi Golden and Jaleah Goff each are averaging 10.6 points a game.

· Adepoju also leads the team with 8.8 rebounds a game, followed by Goff with a 5.3 rebound a game average.

· As a team, the Royals are being out-shot by their opponents 72.4 to 68.2 points a game, and their opponents have a 6.2 rebound a game advantage on the boards. They are forcing opponents into 3.2 turnovers a game more than they are committing.

· Adepoju is one of the more efficient shooters in the SAC as she leads the conference in field goal percentage, hitting 54.2 percent of her shots. She is also fourth in rebounds.

· The Royals lead the SAC in free throw attempts per game, and are third in steals per game.
 
SCOUTING LMU
· Head Coach Krystal Evans is in her fifth season at LMU. She has an 89-50 overall record.
 
· LMU is seeing double as both Emily Griffith and her twin sister Rachel currently lead the team in scoring, with Emily edging out Rachel 16.1 points a game to 14.4. In conference games they flip spots as Rachel is averaging 16.7 points to Emily's 16.4. Sydney Newsome has 8.6 points a game, while Dasia Maxwell has 7.8.
 
· Rebounding is a team effort this season as Maggie Jachimczuk leads the team in rebounds with 5.5 a game, while Newsome has a 5.3 per game average. Emily Griffith (4.5) and Dasia Maxwell (4.4) are close behind while Addi Kirkpatrick has a 4.1 rebounds a game average.  
 
· Emily Griffith leads the team with 3.8 assists a game, followed closely by Rachel with 3.1. Newsome has 2.4 a game.

· The twins are also close in steals, with Rachel averaging 1.8 a game and Emily 1.7. Maxwell has 1.4 a game and Newsome 1.3.
 
· LMU has four of the top 17 three-point shooters in the SAC, as Lindsay Proffitt (45.7) and Sydney Duggins (45.0) are first and second in the conference, respectively. Dasia Maxwell ranks eighth and Rachel Griffith is 17th.
 
· As a team, LMU is averaging 76.2 points a game while holding opponents to 72.5. They are out-rebounding opponents by a margin of +6.5 a game.
 
· LMU leads the SAC in three-point percentage, made free throws a game and offensive rebounds per game. They are second in field goal attempts and total rebounds per game.
