LMU faces North Greenville for first time since 2009 in Valentine's Day matchup in the Tex Turner Arena

HARROGATE, Tenn. – LMU returns home for their final non-conference matchup as they face the North Greenville Crusaders for the first time in a decade on Valentine's Day in the Tex Turner Arena.

LMU is currently 12-10 overall following a close loss to Wingate last Saturday. LMU is 9-8 on Valentine's Day, and 7-2 on that day in Harrogate.

The Lady Railsplitters came out strong and enjoyed a 10 point lead in the second quarter before the Bulldogs fought back to claim the lead and held off several LMU rallies to hold on for the 75-68 win.

Emily Griffith led LMU with 17 points, including 7-7 from the free throw line. She also had four assists, two steals and a block. Rachel Griffith added in 12 points and seven assists. Jachimczuk led the team with eight rebounds. Teliyah Jeter and Jo Snow led WU with 16 points apiece while Danasia Witherspoon pulled down 12 rebounds.

Following this game, LMU will have a quick turnaround as they travel to Newberry for a key South Atlantic Conference game Saturday afternoon.
 
SERIES HISTORY
· LMU leads the series 5-0. The first meeting was a home-and-home series eleven days apart in February 1996. The two teams then met once in 2007, 2008 and 2009.

· In their last meeting, on Jan. 28, 2009 in Harrogate, LMU rolled out to a 20-point first half lead and never looked back in the 110-74 win over the Crusaders. LMU had seven players in double figures, led by Kara Harris' 22 points. Andi Winney had 19, Stephanie Wagner 18, Whitney Vannoy 12, Dayshalee Salaman had 11 points and 10 assists and Sarah Harrison scored 10 points. Karly Stache led NGU with 25 points.
 
SCOUTING NORTH GREENVILLE
· The Crusaders are 6-18 overall and 5-12 in the Conference Carolinas, where they rank ninth in the standings.

· Karen Donehew leads NGU in scoring and rebounding, averaging 15.5 points and 7.6 rebounds a game.

· Donehew is also the team's main long-range threat as she has hit 53 three-pointers this season, though Journey Mohammed is close behind with 47.

· Donehew also leads the team in assists (2.1 a game) and steals (1.5 a game).

· As a team, the Crusaders are being outscored by their opponents 68.1 to 62.3 points a game, and are out-rebounded by their opponents by a 3.5 margin.
 
SCOUTING LMU
· Head Coach Krystal Evans is in her fifth season at LMU. She has an 89-53 overall record.
 
· Emily Griffith and her twin sister Rachel currently lead the team in scoring, with Emily edging out Rachel 16.4 points a game to 14.3. In the SAC, Emily ranks fifth in scoring and assists while Rachel is eleventh in scoring and eighth in assists. Sydney Newsome has 8.6 points a game, while Dasia Maxwell has 7.3.
 
· Rebounding is a team effort this season as Maggie Jachimczuk leads the team in rebounds with 5.6 a game, followed closely by Newsome's 5.5 per game average. Dasia Maxwell (4.3 a game) and Emily Griffith (4.2) are not far behind while Addi Kirkpatrick has a 3.8 rebounds a game average.  
 
· Emily Griffith leads the team with 3.6 assists a game, followed closely by Rachel with 3.2.

· The twins are also practically identical in steals, with Emily averaging 1.7 steals a game and Rachel 1.6. Newsome has 1.4 a game and Maxwell 1.3.
 
· LMU has three of the top 18 three-point shooters in the SAC, as Sydney Duggins (46.7 percent) and Lindsay Proffitt (45.6 percent) have flip-flopped first and second in the conference for most of the season, with Duggins re-claiming first place. Rachel Griffith is 18th.
 
· As a team, LMU is averaging 74.6 points a game while holding opponents to 72.3. They are out-rebounding opponents by a margin of +5.4 a game.
