BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Lincoln Memorial baseball team takes its five-game winning streak on the road this weekend when the Railsplitters open an eight-game road trip with a series at Lynn University.

The Railsplitters (5-3) dominated Ohio Valley this past weekend, outscoring the Fighting Scots 37-8 in a three-game sweep at Lamar Hennon Field, while Lynn (5-1) is back in action after a dominant weekend of its own, as the Fighting Knights combined to outscore Tuskegee 47-4 in the three-game sweep in Boca Raton.

The Railsplitters and Fighting Knights will play a doubleheader on Friday beginning a 12 p.m. The series will then conclude with a single game at noon on Saturday at the Lynn Baseball Field.

Quick Hits

- In game one against Ohio Valley, the Railsplitters scattered a season-high 15 hits and scored five runs in the first and fifth innings to power a 14-2 shellacking of the Fighting Scots. Ethan Elliott struck out 10 across five innings of work, while both Chris Salvey and Dalton Dedas finished a triple shy of the cycle, driving in seven runs total.

- Game two saw the Railsplitters outlast Ohio Valley 8-5 in the most competitive game of the series. Lincoln Memorial jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but had to hold off the Fighting Scots down the stretch. Seven different LMU players produced a hit, led by Dedas's 2-for-3 day with an RBI and a walk.

- The Railsplitters won in landslide fashion again in game three to complete the series sweep with a 15-1 victory. LMU piled up 11 hits, scoring four in the second and adding seven more in the fifth. Ohio Valley, meanwhile, mustered just three hits total against the trio of Joe Bobiak, Patrick Queener and Devin Morris

- Though he went just 2-for-9 in the series against Ohio Valley, Nate Stinson still leads the team in batting average at .400 and hits with 12. He is tied for the team-lead in runs scored with eight and doubles with three.

- Brent Richey has hit safely in seven of his eight appearances this season and contributed at least one RBI in five games. He is ranked third on the team in batting average (.345) and hits (10).

- Since going 0-for-5 in the opener, Seth Hunt has hit safely in seven straight games with multiple hits in three of his last four outings. The Knoxville, Tenn., native combined to go 6-for-12 in the series against Ohio Valley.

- Like Richey and Hunt, Salvey has recorded a hit in seven of the Railsplitters' eight games this season. The first baseman leads the team with 10 RBI and has four extra-base knocks on his ledger.

- The Railsplitter pitching staff saw its ERA dip to 3.11 after the Ohio Valley series. The bullpen has been a source of strength early in the season, as Eli Wright has yet to allow a run in three relief appearances and 8.1 innings of work. Queener has also not given up a run in two relief outings.

- As a team, LMU has struck out 61 batters in 63.2 innings. Matt Mullenbach leads the Railsplitters with 17 strikeouts in only 9.2 innings, while Elliott is second with 15 in 9.1 innings.

- The Railsplitters could be better offensively with runners in scoring position as the team is hitting .279 in those situations. Hunt and Stinson lead LMU with five hits apiece with RBI chances.

Notes on Lynn

- Since losing a 6-5 extra-innings decision to Catawba in the season opener, the Fighting Knights have reeled off five straight wins, including a 7-6 triumph over Tusculum.

- Lynn's offensive numbers are absolutely absurd early in the season. Through six games, the Fighting Knights are batting .372 with a .481 on-base percentage and a .651 slugging percentage. They have also racked up 35 extra-base hits and struck out only 35 times in 218 official at-bats.

- Those numbers were inflated substantially by the Tuskegee series, when Lynn piled up 47 runs and 45 hits in three games.

- Seniors Alec Ojeda and Shayne Fontana are leading the Lynn offense in hits with 11 and nine, respectively. Ojeda is hitting .500 with five doubles, two triples, a homer and six RBI, while Fontana has hit a team-leading three home runs and drove in a team-high nine runs.

- Sophomore Anthony Sanabria has produced a .381 batting average with three doubles and five RBI. Senior Alejandro Martinez also has three doubles with six RBI. Senior Tom Archer leads the team with 25 at-bats and has accounted for seven hits with a .280 average thus far.

- The Railsplitters will likely face the trio of Nicholis Prather, Misael Castillo and Samuel Beck on the mound. Prather has pitched a team-high 10 innings, allowing eight hits while striking out 13 over that span. He has a 2.70 ERA. Castillo and Beck have pitched 8.2 and 8.1 innings, respectively. Both have eight strikeouts apiece.

- The Fighting Knights have not been super active on the bases with just seven stolen bases so far this season. Ojeda leads the team with three, while Fontana has two.

- Lynn is 5-0 at home this season. The Fighting Knights have yet to play a true road game in 2019.

- Lynn is just nine years removed from winning the NCAA Division II national championship, as the Fighting Knights went 46-16 in 2009 to capture the title. That stands as the only national championship in program history.
