BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Lincoln Memorial baseball team resumes its eight-game road trip on Tuesday afternoon with a short trip to Bristol, Tenn., to face the King Tornado at 2:30 p.m.
The Railsplitters (6-5) will be looking to get back on track after dropping two of three games at Lynn this past weekend, while the Tornado (3-4) were last in action last Thursday in a 9-5 loss at Carson-Newman.
King plays host to Milligan on Monday before welcoming the Railsplitters to the King Baseball Field on Tuesday.

- The Railsplitters went 1-2 last weekend in Boca Raton, Fla., but easily could have come away with a three-game sweep of the Fighting Knights. Lincoln Memorial opened game one by scoring eight unanswered runs in a 9-4 romp. In game two, the Railsplitters led 5-4 midway through the fifth, but Lynn scored three in the bottom of the fifth in a 7-5 win. The Railsplitters also led 4-0 after the top of the first in the series finale before the Fighting Knights roared back to take the series with a 9-7 triumph.

Chris Salvey turned in a monster performance at the plate in the series at Lynn, going 7-for-11 with a double, a homer, eight RBI and three runs scored. The senior first baseman had multiple hits in all three games and has now recorded a hit in seven straight games.

Seth Hunt extended his hitting streak to 10 games this past weekend, compiling a 5-for-13 effort at the plate in three appearances against Lynn. The senior went 3-for-5 in the opener with two runs, a double and an RBI.
- Five players are hitting above .300 for the Railsplitters. Salvey leads the team with a .410 clip, while
Nate Stinson is second at .375. Hunt (.372), Dedas (.316) and
Joe Stucky (.304) are the only other players with a batting average cresting the .300 mark.

Henry Moore was solid in place of Dedas in the final two games of the Lynn series, going 5-for-8 in those two games with a triple, a homer, three RBI and two runs scored. Moore went 3-for-3 in game two of the series and is batting .538 in his five starts.
- The LMU pitching staff is carrying 4.05 team earned run average and 1.55 WHIP (walks plus hits per inning pitched) into Tuesday's game. The Railsplitter arms have struck out 79 batters and walked 33 in 86.2 innings of action.
- After Tuesday's game, the Railsplitters open South Atlantic Conference play this weekend with a trip to Anderson, S.C., to face the Anderson Trojans for a three-game series.
Notes on King
- The Tornado opened the 2019 season by dropping three games at Anderson by scores of 8-6, 11-6 and 10-9. King bounced back from that by sweeping Virginia-Wise in the home-opening series by scores of 3-2, 8-7 and 10-8.
- In last Thursday's loss at Carson-Newman, the Eagles scored five runs in the third and tacked on two more insurance runs in the seventh in a 9-5 win in Jefferson City. Kevin Barbato and Austin Meyer tallied two hits apiece, while Tony Valdes homered and scored two runs out of the leadoff spot.
- The Tornado are hitting .270 as a team with a .530 slugging percentage. Of King's 32 extra-base hits, 10 have left the yard.
- Barbato, Valdes and Hunter Barbour lead King with nine hits apiece. Barbato is batting .346 with a team-high four doubles. Barbour has recorded three doubles with a home run, while Valdes leads the team by a mile in runs scored with 14. He is also tied with Trader Flora for the team-lead in home runs with three.
- The King pitching staff has struggled out of the gate with a 7.76 team ERA. The Tornado have accounted for 51 strikeouts over 51 innings, but have also issued 32 free passes.
