LMU faces Mars Hill in penultimate regular-season home game Wednesday evening

HARROGATE, Tenn. – LMU returns home for the final two home games of the regular season this week. First up, Mars Hill on Wednesday evening.

LMU is currently 13-11 overall and 8-8 in SAC play following their 66-52 loss at Newberry last Saturday. The Lady Railsplitters shot their lowest percentage of the season at 20.8 percent and fell into an early deficit they were never able to overcome. Emily Griffith led LMU with 22 points, followed by Rachel Griffith's 15 points and Sydney Duggins' 10 points.

Following this game, LMU will host Catawba on Saturday at 2 p.m., with Senior Day activities also on the plate before tip-off as Splitter Nation will thank seniors Emily Griffith, Rachel Griffith, Dasia Maxwell, Sydney Duggins and Kai Wesemann for their contributions to the program.
 
SERIES HISTORY
· LMU leads in the series 20-11 and they are 10-2 against the Lions in the Krystal Evans era.

· In their last meeting, on Jan. 16 in Mars Hill, the Lions kept hanging around despite several LMU runs and eventually cut the lead to 75-70 with six seconds remaining, but LMU hit a free throw late to seal the 76-70 win. Emily Griffith had another 20-plus point performance for LMU as she led all scorers with 25 points. She also had eight rebounds and five assists. Twin sister Rachel Griffith scored 18 points, while Maggie Jachimczuk had 11 points and 10 rebounds.

· In their last meeting in Harrogate, on Dec. 11, 2017, LMU grabbed the lead early and never looked back in the 107-62 win. LMU had six players in double figures, led by Shea Coker's 16 points. Emily Griffith, Kyndall Caudle and Qua Hines had 11 points each, while Karsen Sims and Rachel Griffith had 10 points apiece. Mariah Johnson led MHU with 16 points.
 
SCOUTING MARS HILL
· The Lions come into the game winless in SAC play at 0-16 and 1-20 overall on the season.

· Mariah Johnson leads the Lions in scoring and steals, averaging 14.3 points and 1.8 steals a game. She ranks tenth in the SAC in scoring.

· Tatum Boggs is averaging 11.3 points a game and is second on the team in scoring.

· Shayla Smith leads the team with 7.8 rebounds a game, followed by Gabby Gianikos' 6.1 rebounds a game.

· As a team, the Lions are being outscored by their opponents by an 80.5-to-55.9 points per game margin and are being out-rebounded 13.8 a game. They are forcing their opponents to commit 17.0 turnovers a game.
 
SCOUTING LMU
· Head Coach Krystal Evans is in her fifth season at LMU. She has a 90-54 overall record.
 
· Emily Griffith and her twin sister Rachel currently lead the team in scoring, with Emily edging out Rachel 16.7 points a game to 14.2. In the SAC, Emily ranks fourth in scoring and points per game, fifth in assists, and third in made field goals while Rachel is eighth in scoring, seventh in assists and third in made free throws. Sydney Newsome has 8.3 points a game, while Lindsay Proffitt and Dasia Maxwell have 6.8.
 
· Rebounding is a team effort this season as Maggie Jachimczuk leads the team in rebounds with 5.4 a game, followed closely by Newsome's 5.3 per game average. Dasia Maxwell and Emily Griffith (4.2 per game each) are not far behind while Addi Kirkpatrick has a 3.7 rebounds a game average.  
 
· Emily Griffith leads the team with 3.7 assists a game, followed closely by Rachel with 3.1.

· The twins are also identical in steals, with Rachel and Emily averaging 1.8 steals a game apiece. Newsome and Maxwell have 1.3 a game each.
 
· LMU has three of the top 18 three-point shooters in the SAC, as Sydney Duggins (45.1 percent) and Lindsay Proffitt (43.5 percent) have flip-flopped first and second in the conference for most of the season, with Duggins re-claiming first place. Rachel Griffith is 18th.
 
· As a team, LMU is averaging 74.8 points a game while holding opponents to 72.1. They are out-rebounding opponents by a margin of +5.5 a game.
 
· LMU leads the SAC in made free throws a game and offensive rebounds per game. They are second in three-point percentage, field goal attempts, free throw attempts and total rebounds per game.
