3/22/2019 11:52:00 AM

SALISBURY, N.C. – On the heels of the most prolific scoring performance of the season, the Lincoln Memorial men's lacrosse team will try to string together back-to-back South Atlantic Conference wins on Saturday with a matchup at league-leading Catawba.

The Railsplitters (3-6, 1-2 SAC) accounted for their most goals ever in a conference match and just the sixth 20-goal outburst in program history in a wild 21-15 win over Mars Hill on Wednesday at the LMU Lacrosse Complex, which snapped a six-game losing streak.

Catawba (6-2, 3-0 SAC) is currently the hottest team in the league as the Indians enter Saturday's match riding a six-match winning streak that includes a 13-9 victory over No. 15 Wingate on Wednesday. Catawba is one of only two teams without a SAC loss this season along with Queens.

The Railsplitters get underway against Catawba at 1 p.m. at Shuford Stadium.

Quick Hits

- Ian Cook and Kyle Arcuri combined for 17 points in the Railsplitters' win over Mars Hill. Cook had five goals and four assists on 10 shots and eight shots on goal, while Arcuri scored a season-high eight points on five goals and three assists. Chris Tucker added four goals and an assist, while Robert Tucker and Reggie Golfin had three goals apiece.

- On the heels of his five-goal performance, Arcuri now needs only one goal to become the second LMU player in program history with 100 career goals. Robert Tucker is also approaching a career milestone and sits five points away from hitting the 100-point mark. He would be the fifth LMU player all-time to accomplish that feat.

- The 21 goals are the most the Railsplitters have ever scored in a SAC match, surpassing their 18-goal effort in a win at Mars Hill last season. It marked just the fourth time this season Lincoln Memorial scored 10 goals or more.

- Cook pushed his season point total to 35 as the sophomore has tallied 25 goals and 10 assists in his debut season in the Blue and Gray. Arcuri is second on the team with 25 points on 13 goals and 12 assists, while Robert Tucker is third with 24 points on 16 goals and eight assists. Golfin and Chris Tucker have 16 points apiece.

- Hunter Clark set the program record for ground balls in the win over Mars Hill, securing 18. The junior now claims the four highest ground ball totals in program history and ranks third in the SAC this season with 57 pickups. That already ranks fourth in LMU's single-season history.

- Despite that explosion against Mars Hill, the Railsplitters are still ranked last in the league with 10.78 goals per game. Lincoln Memorial is sixth in the league in goals against average, allowing 11.67 per outing.

- The Railsplitters have the second-most face-off wins in the conference with 132. Clark leads the team and ranks third in the SAC in that category with 100 face-off victories.

Notes on Catawba

- The Indians' only losses this season have come against No. 8 Belmont Abbey and No. 13 Mount Olive. Since those two season-opening setbacks, Catawba has reeled off six straight wins over Florida Tech, Walsh, Grove City, Newberry, Coker and Wingate.

- The Indians never trailed in their upset win over No. 15 Wingate, outscoring the Bulldogs 4-1 in the first quarter before closing on a 4-0 run. Cole Fanzo scored five goals to lead the way for Catawba, while Joe Barber had three goals and an assist. Trevor Bellotte fired off 10 shots but tallied only one goal.

- Catawba is ranked seventh in the SAC in goals per game with 11.88 and third in goals against average with 9.00.

- Bellotte leads the team with 30 points on 25 goals and five assists, while Barber and Fanzo are just off that pace with 29 and 28 points, respectively. Barber has 13 goals and 16 assists, while Fanzo has produced 25 goals and three assists. Robert Morrison is the only other consistent offensive producer with seven goals and 11 assists.

- Kevin Geiger has been one of the stingiest goalies in the league this season, ranking second in save percentage with a 59.6 percent mark and third in goals against average (9.05) and saves (106). In SAC play, Geiger has surrendered a league-leading 7.67 goals per match.

- The Indians are ranked second in the SAC in caused turnovers with 94. Payton Leonard leads the way with 22, while Reese Scott and Keenan D'Arcy have 15 and 14, respectively. Leonard also leads the team with 38 ground ball recoveries.

- Catawba is 4-2 at home compared to 2-0 on the road this season.

Series History
