Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Lady Railsplitters dominate Catawba to match single-season wins record with 13-2 triumph

SALISBURY, N.C. — The hallmark of the Lincoln Memorial women's lacrosse season has been fast starts and that trend continued on Saturday morning as the Lady Railsplitters jumped out to a 9-0 lead over the Catawba Indians and coasted to a 13-2 South Atlantic Conference win.

LMU (8-2, 3-1 SAC) used a balanced scoring attack, led by Kelly Csenar's four goals, and a strong defensive effort to hand the Indians (4-6, 3-1 SAC) their first conference loss of the season. The Lady Railsplitters also matched the program single-season wins record, tying the 2018 team, with seven games left in the regular season.

"I am very proud of the total team effort today," Head Coach Caitlyn Corace said. "We played well in all facets of the game."

Lincoln Memorial dominated in all aspects of the contest, outshooting Catawba 26-18, hustling for the advantage in ground balls 31-21 and accounting for a convincing advantage in shots on goal, 24-10.

In addition to Csenar's four goals, Jasmin Click, Amara Moss, Kennedy Buechner and Erin DePaul contributed two each and Rachel Gardner added one goal.

"The girls did a great of stretching the field and protecting their sticks in transition today," said Corace.

Defensively, goalie Micayla Starnes had a standout game, limiting the Indians to just two goals while making eight saves.

"Micayla was solid in net again, making some key stops to avoid giving them any momentum," Corace said. "The defense did a great job on their matchups helping to hold them to just two goals."

The LMU offense scored goals in bunches, putting Catawba in a deep hole early.

LMU jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first 13 minutes of play. Csenar started the onslaught with her first goal less than three minutes into the contest. Click got her first at the 20:34 mark, followed 15 seconds later by the first of two Moss goals.

"We did a great job on the hustle plays like boxing out on the draw," Corace added. "We won the draw control and ground ball battle."

The second half was all LMU and Csenar as she scored three of the five Lady Railsplitter tallies.

Next up for LMU is a Tuesday game with Emmanuel in Franklin Springs, Ga.  The Lady Railsplitters return to the LMU Lacrosse Complex next Saturday for a key SAC tilt with Wingate.
