JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Railsplitters will face one of the hottest teams in the South Atlantic Conference this weekend when they visit the Carson-Newman Eagles for a three-game series at the Silver Diamond Baseball Complex.

Lincoln Memorial (12-8, 4-2 SAC) dropped two of three against No. 10 Catawba last weekend, but bounced back from that on Tuesday, piling up a season-high 17 hits to rock Trevecca 17-9.

Carson-Newman (17-4, 2-0 SAC) beat Mars Hill twice in a rain-shortened series to open SAC play this past weekend and enters this weekend with wins in eight of its last nine overall. The Eagles improved to 11-1 on its home field this season with an 11-2 victory over Bluefield State on Wednesday.

Quick Hits

- Ten different players contributed at least one hit in the Railsplitters' 17-9 thrashing of Trevecca, led by three-hit days for Seth Hunt and Henry Moore. Nate Stinson, Tanner Head and Will Reddick had two hits apiece, while Tyler Adams hit a grand slam and drove in five runs in the victory.

- With double-digit hits in 10 of its last 13 games, Lincoln Memorial has lifted its team batting average to .296, which ranks fourth in the South Atlantic Conference. The Railsplitters are also in the top three in the league in on-base percentage (.406) and slugging percentage (.431).

- Adams has been on a tear since returning from injury, going 9-for-17 at the plate over his last four games with a double, a home run and seven RBI. In limited action, the junior shortstop is batting .500 with a .533 on-base clip.

- Chris Salvey has hit a bit of a rough patch as the senior first baseman is mired in a 1-for-11 slump over the last three games. Salvey still leads the team with 29 hits and four homers.

- Stinson extended his streak of reaching base safely to 20 games in Tuesday's win at Trevecca. The junior DH is ranked second on the team in multi-hit games behind only Salvey with five and leads the team with eight doubles.

- Reddick is 6-for-13 at the plate over his last three games. Over that span, the senior has scored four runs, doubled twice and homered while contributing a pair of RBI. He has also reached base safely in 10 straight games.

- Ethan Elliott will look to rebound from a rough outing against Catawba. After holding the Indians hitless through the first three innings, he gave up nine hits and eight runs over the next two to see his three-game winning streak snapped. The lefty struck out six and walked one to fall to 3-2 on the season.

- A committee of arms helped the Railsplitters salvage their series against No. 10 Catawba with a 5-4 win in 12 innings in game two. Freshman Eli Wright allowed just three hits and two earned runs over his five-inning start, while Devin Morris and Patrick Queener shut the door, combining to give up only six hits and two runs over 6.1 innings of relief.

- The Railsplitters will be playing their 15th, 16th and 17th road games of the season this weekend. Lincoln Memorial has only played six home games and have compiled an 8-6 road record.

Notes on Carson-Newman

- The Eagles lead the SAC in home runs with 26, RBI with 173, extra-base hits with 81, walks with 124, hit-by-pitches with 45 and stolen bases with 49. On top of that, Carson-Newman also leads the conference with a .434 on-base percentage and a .506 slugging percentage while ranking third with a .296 batting average.

- The Eagles have hung double-digit runs on the scoreboard nine times this season, most recently accomplishing that feat in their 11-2 win over Bluefield State.

- A plethora of guys are getting it done at the plate for Carson-Newman. Ethan Goforth leads the Eagles with 31 hits, eight doubles, two triples and five homers. He is batting .403, while Tyler Thompson leads the SAC with a .439 batting average. Thompson has racked up seven doubles, four homers and 22 RBI while striking out just four times total.

- Among every day players, Malik Kyle, Jordan Griffin, John Sharpe and Michael Wroth are all hitting above .300. Kyle has six doubles and two homers, Sharpe has three long balls, and Wroth is tied for the team lead with five home runs and leads the team with 26 RBI.

- The Carson-Newman pitching staff has been solid as well with a .254 batting average against and a 4.61 earned run average, ranking fourth in the SAC in both of those categories.

- Five different pitchers have made at least three starts for the Eagles already this season. Dalton Long is 1-1 with 22 strikeouts across 18.1 innings, while freshman Tyler Shaver is 1-1 with 17 Ks in 18.2 innings of work. Senior Greg Valentine has started a perfect 6-0 while tallying a 2.37 ERA and 35 strikeouts over a team-high 30.1 innings. Kyle Cagle is 4-1 with 22 whiffs in 15.1 innings.
