HARROGATE, Tenn. – The LMU beach volleyball team will make their shortest trip(s) of the season this weekend as they cross Clinch Mountain to play Carson-Newman and Stevenson both Saturday and Sunday afternoons in Jefferson City.
LMU (2-4) comes into Saturday's matches on a roll after defeating Tusculum Wednesday afternoon 3-2. In that match the duo of
Kai Wesemann and
Sarah Jones improved to 6-0 on the season, while
Lindsey Nartker and
Rylee Storms picked up their fourth win.
Caitlin Bethell and
Emily Walter also won their flight.
The Lady Railsplitters will play the same schedule both days as they face Stevenson at noon and Carson-Newman at 3 p.m.
Stevenson comes into Saturday's matches with a 3-7 record, and will face C-N at 9 a.m. both days. They defeated the Eagles 3-2 earlier this season in a match in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Mustangs are 2-0 all-time vs. LMU. Emily Castro and Caroline Dangel lead the way for SU with a 4-6 record at the third flight. Expect to see Darian Hileman and Piper Connors at the first flight, and Katie Leftridge and Emily Pellini at the second flight.
Carson-Newman enters the weekend with a 2-12 record. LMU leads the all-time series 6-3. Summer Coulter and Abby Struewing anchor the team at the first flight, while Morgan Siwiec and Grace Seymour have played most of their recent matches at the second flight. The duo of Kelly Hughes and Aryana Fazelna have seen time in the third flight in recent matches.
Following this weekend's matches LMU will play in the Austin Peay Governor's Beach Challenge next weekend, where they will face Austin Peay, Eastern Kentucky and Georgia State.
