Beach volleyball ends weekend with a 3-2 loss to Stevenson and a 5-0 rout of Carson-Newman

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The second verse was the same as the first as LMU split with Stevenson and Carson-Newman for the second consecutive day, this time narrowly falling to the Mustangs 3-2 before blowing out the Eagles 5-0.

The Lady Railsplitters move to 4-6 on the season and will now prepare for next week's trip to Clarksville, Tennessee, to take on Austin Peay, Eastern Kentucky, and Georgia State.

Stevenson 3, LMU 2
The teams tied the match at 2-2, with the match being decided by a third set in the first flight.

Mackenzie Blevins and Sarah Riggin gave SU their first win as they defeated Abby Higgins and Brooke Taylor at the fifth spot 21-8, 21-14.

Emily Walter and Caitlin Bethell then tied the match up at 1-1 as they outlasted Victoria Prokic and Julie Nightwine 24-22, 22-16 in the fourth flight.

At the third flight Katie Leftridge and Emily Pellini took LMU's Kai Wesemann and Sarah Jones to three sets for the second straight day, and again they prevailed 21-10, 19-21, 15-9.

Danielle Strachura and Danielle Ged made the move to the second flight, and it paid dividends as they bested Emily Castro and Caroline Dangel 21-17, 21-19.

The match then came down to the first spot, where Lindsey Nartker and Rylee Storms faced off against SU's Darian Hillman and Piper Connors. After dropping the first set 21-9, the duo stormed back in the second set to claim the 21-13 win. The lead then see-sawed throughout the third set before Hillman and Connors made a late run to pull out the 15-10 victory and give Stevenson the match point.

The Lady Railsplitters grabbed their eighth straight win over the Eagles in dominating fashion, sweeping each flight in straight sets.

Higgins and Taylor made quick work of Taryn Nichols and Dilyn Palmer at the fifth flight, winning 21-13 and 21-12 to finish the weekend with a 2-2 record. At the fourth spot, Walter and Bethell picked up their third win out of four this weekend as they swept Montgomery Sauter and Lauren Williams 21-15, 21-15.

Wesemann and Jones made quick work of Kelly Hughes and Aryana Fazelnia 21-9, 21-11 in the third spot to improve to 7-3 on the season, while at the second flight "Team Danielle" breezed past Morgan Siwiec and Grace Seymour 21-12, 21-7 to go three of four for the weekend.

Storms and Nartker also went 3-4 for the weekend after defeating Summer Coulter and Abby Struewing 21-18, 21-16 at the first flight.
