HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lincoln Memorial University men's golf team received their highest-ever ranking by Golfstat Tuesday afternoon, as the Railsplitters checked in at No. 3 nationally.
The Railsplitter golf squad began this season's campaign by competing in the University of North Georgia Fall Invitational. The team tied for second, level with the Piedmont College Lions. LMU compiled a team score of 844 through 36 holes of action (-20).
South Carolina-Aiken holds the No.1 ranking in the nation. The Pacers defeated the Railsplitters by just seven strokes at the UNG Fall Invitational.
Senior
Dan Bradbury, who has already put together a distinguished LMU career, is the No. 1 individually ranked player nationally, according to Golfstat. Bradbury began the 2020-21 campaign by placing second individually at the UNG Fall Invitational after finishing 11-under-par through 36 holes, just one stroke off the leader.
Bradbury returns for his senior year after a successful 2019-20 campaign in which he won three tournaments, the State Farm Intercollegiate, South Region Preview and the Battle at Hilton Head. He also posted the lowest single-season scoring average in program history with a 70.25. Bradbury ended the season ranked fourth in the nation, according to Golfstat.
Before the cancellation of the remainder of the 2019-20 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, LMU had seven top-3 finishes in the eight events the team competed in, including first place finishes at the State Farm Intercollegiate & SAC Preview, the South Region Preview and the Battle for Hilton Head. The team finished the year ranked No. 7 in the Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll.
LMU returns 12 golfers from last year's roster, in addition to two sophomore transfers and two incoming freshmen that will make up the 2020-21 roster.
The Railsplitters will return to action on Feb. 15 in the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate at the St. Johns Golf Club in St. Augustine, Florida.
