FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Lincoln Memorial University men's bowling crew extended their stay at 23-team, McKendree Baker Challenge this weekend advancing to match play in the semifinal round after a Baker victory over William Penn University at the St. Clair Bowling Center.
OPENING DAY
Throughout the opening day, the Railsplitters posted a total pin count of 4,744, to sit in fifth-place after six Baker matches. LMU recorded a 4-2 record, topping William Penn University (774-677), Illinois State University (801-704), Kansas State University (853-626) and Davenport University (814-800) in the day's closing. The two losses came at the hands of both of the St. Ambrose University teams.
Weber International University stood at the top after the first day with a total pin count of 4,831, followed closely by St. Amberose #1 with 4,813. The hosting Bearcats sat in third place by one pin (4,812) with Wichita State University rounding out fourth place (4,802).
CLOSING OUT
In the second day of action, the Railsplitters finished strong with a 930-pinfall count throughout a four-game block to jump from seventh to fifth on the day. Hunter Kempton struck in the 8-11 frames to nail down the victory.
After advancing to the semifinal round of match play, the Blue and Gray fell to William Penn, 2-1, to end their weekend finishing in tying-fashion for third/fourth place at the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Tier-I tournament won by Webber International.

The LMU bowling squad will close their 2019-20 journey next weekend at the Hoosier Classic on February 15-16, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
