GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. – In the midst of a tough stretch of the schedule, the Lincoln Memorial women's lacrosse team faced off against their second straight ranked opponent. The Lady Railsplitters ventured north on their Spring Break to take on Davenport, and battled for 60 minutes, but fell short 20-5.
The Panthers took a quick 4-0 lead early in the first quarter.
Ali Van Der Ziel ended the run by putting one in the back of the net off a pass from
Sophia Gardea. Davenport responded with seven straight goals to go up by 10.
Ali Van Der Ziel netted her second goal of the game to cut into the deficit, but DU ended the half with three consecutive goals to lead 14-2 at the break.
The two teams traded goals to start the third quarter, as
Avery Van Der Ziel scored in a man-up situation after the Panthers scored to open the quarter. Davenport put together four straight goals throughout the end of the third quarter and the start of the fourth.
Kelly Csenar responded with a goal of her own, followed by a DU goal, before
Ali Van Der Ziel closed out the scoring in the game by capping off her hat trick with an assist from
Jamie Small.
Ali Van Der Ziel tallied three goals, while
Kelly Csenar and
Avery Van Der Ziel each netted one.
Sophia Gardea and
Jamie Small both recorded an assist. Csenar,
Delaney Duck,
Avery Van Der Ziel, and
Elle Miller all fielded multiple groundballs.

The Lady Railsplitters return to SAC play as they travel to Hartsville, South Carolina to take on Coker. They return home on April 9 when they take on Queens.
