HARTSVILLE, S.C. – It had to feel good to get back on track. Following two tough losses to ranked opponents, the Lincoln Memorial women's lacrosse team bounced back in a big way, doubling up Coker 18-9.
This time it was LMU jumping out to the early lead, going up 4-0 just over eight minutes into the game.
Kelly Csenar opened the scoring with an unassisted goal less than four minutes into the game.
Ali Van Der Ziel followed that with an unassisted goal of her own to make 2-0.
Sierra Landsman scored the third straight Lady Railsplitter goal off a pass from
Sophia Gardea.
Chandler Bell ended the run with the fourth Lincoln Memorial goal. Coker would respond with two goals to end the period to make it 4-2 after 15 minutes of play.
The Cobras started the second quarter with two more goals to tie the game at four. LMU responded with three consecutive goals.
Chandler Bell netted her second goal of the contest, this one coming off a pass from Csenar.
Ali Van Der Ziel and
Sophia Gardea continued the run with unassisted goals to push the lead to three. Coker got one back late in the quarter to make it 7-5 at halftime.
The third quarter belonged to the Lady Railsplitters, as they outscored the Cobras 5-1 over the period. The Van Der Ziel sisters started the scoring, as Avery scored first, followed by Ali, then Avery scored once again to double up the Cobras.
Ana Carney continued the run, scoring her first goal of the game, her tally coming off a pass from Ali. Coker scored to end the run, but
Ali Van Der Ziel netted her fourth goal of the game with 15 seconds remaining to push the LMU lead to 12-6 with one quarter to play.
Coker got two goals to open up the fourth quarter, but LMU responded with six goals to put the game away.

Avery Van Der Ziel,
Chandler Bell, and
Jaedyn Ryba scored unassisted goals to begin the scoring run.
Michaela Clark followed that up with a goal off a pass from Ryba, then
Ali Van Der Ziel closed out the Lady Railsplitter scoring, as she got her fifth of the game. Coker scored with seconds left in the game, but it was too little too late for the Cobras, as LMU picked up their ninth win of the season.
"After coming off two losses to ranked teams, we definitely came together today, and play more consistent and disciplined as a team," remarked head coach
Alyssa Shaver. "I think this will help our momentum heading into the rest of conference play."
Ali Van Der Ziel netted five goals on the game and recorded one assist.
Avery Van Der Ziel and
Chandler Bell both also tallied hat tricks offensively. Csenar, Ryba, Small, Landsman, Gardea, Carney, and Clark all scored once. Gardea, Ryba, and Csenar all had assists in the game.
Elle Miller picked up the win between the posts, saving two shots in her 52 minutes of gameplay.
Melanie Cascio and
Delaney Duck both fielded three groundballs.

The Lady Railsplitters continue SAC play as they head to Wingate, North Carolina to take on the Bulldogs next Saturday at 4 pm. They return home on April 9 when they take on Queens.
