Three-Time Defending Champion Railsplitters Earn Top Seed at 2022 IVA Tournament

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Lincoln Memorial University men's volleyball team will begin its championship quest as the No. 1 overall seed at the 2022 Independent Volleyball Association (IVA) Tournament, held Friday and Saturday, April 22-23 inside Curry Arena at the Levine Center on the campus of Queens in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Three-time defending IVA Tournament champion LMU will begin their quest in the morning hours of Friday, April 22 as they are set to take on Alderson Broaddus in the first round at 10:30 a.m. on the main court of the event before moving on to either the semifinals or consolation bracket at the 4:30 p.m. time mark on Friday. The Railsplitters could see either Limestone or Fairleigh Dickinson in the second round.

Both of the Railsplitters' matches this weekend will be streamed live on Stretch Internet and live statistics can be followed via QueensAthletics.com.

Lincoln Memorial stood tall all season as they posted an unblemished record at home, going 9-0 and joining Penn State and Hawai'i as the only programs without a loss at home in 2022. 13 of the 17 Splitter victories have come in straight sets, highlighted by wins over then-No. 11 Loyola-Chicago, McKendree and Purdue Fort Wayne. The Railsplitters currently boast the highest RPI ranking of any IVA team as they were slotted at No. 10 in this week's RPI with Queens being the next IVA team in at No. 27.

IVA Tournament History

Boasting a 6-2 all-time record in IVA Tournament matches, LMU has won each of the last three IVA Tournament titles. Winning their last six IVA Tournament outings, the Railsplitters captured their first IVA Tournament in 2018 with a 3-0 dismantling of Queens and a five-set win over Coker University in Philippi, West Virginia. LMU won back-to-back straight-set contests against Daemen College and the Royals to claim the 2019 IVA Tournament inside Mary Mars Gym before replicating their 2019 results in 2021 as they again posted back-to-back straight-set wins over Tusculum and Queens. Head coach John Cash is an unblemished 6-0 in the IVA Tournament.
