Softball Set To Host SAC Championship Tournament Inside Dorothy Neely

The Lady Railsplitters face off against Queens in Friday's first quarterfinal

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lincoln Memorial University softball program (32-18, 15-9 SAC) is set to host the annual South Atlantic Conference Championship Tournament inside the Dorothy Neely Softball Complex, taking on Queens in the first quarterfinal Friday morning. Below is information for the weekend, including game previews, schedule, start times, merchandise and ticket prices.

Friday, April 29: Quarterfinals

Game 1 (11 a.m. EST) – No. 4-Seed Lincoln Memorial vs. No. 5-Seed Queens

Fittingly, the Lady Railsplitters will get the conference championship tournament underway in Harrogate Friday morning, facing off against the Lady Royals. Both Lincoln Memorial and Queens finished league action at 15-9, as LMU had the honors to the four-seed after sweeping the Royals in Charlotte on March 26.

Emma Frost (18-8) and Jordan Dunn (16-11) will be the projected starters in the circle Friday morning on both sides. The junior Frost was just announced to the Second Team All-SAC for an unprecedented campaign, setting the single-season program-record just last week, with 200 K's and counting in 2022.

The Lady Railsplitters ended the regular season on an 11-game slide, and will be leaning on their 21-5 2022 home record to gain momentum and turn the tide against the Lady Royals of Queens.

Game 2 (1:30 p.m. EST) – No. 1-Seed Anderson vs. No. 8-Seed Limestone

The Lady Trojans of Anderson (37-7, 20-4 SAC), this year's South Atlantic Conference regular season champions, will take on the eight-seed in Limestone (30-16, 12-12 SAC) following LMU's opening quarterfinal. Anderson have been the dominant team not only in the league, but throughout the southeast all spring, ranking No. 1 in the region. The Lady Saints of Limestone put together a 30-win campaign, taking care of business in non-conference action, but struggled down the stretch in the SAC.

The league pitcher of the year, Laken Maxwell (20-4) and Limestone's Haley White (16-6) are tomorrow's quarterfinal projected starters.

*Following game two's conclusion, South Atlantic Conference officials will present the 2022 league awards inside Dorothy Neely.
Lincoln Memorial's Madison Henry (first team), Emma Frost (second team) and McKenzie Henry (third team) we all receive recognition for their dominant regular season performances on the diamond.

Game 3 (4 p.m. EST) – No. 2-Seed Lenoir-Rhyne vs. No. 7-Seed Tusculum

The latter-half of Friday's quarterfinals will get underway with the regular season conference-runner-up in the Lady Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne (36-13, 18-6 SAC), and the seven-seed Lady Pioneers of Tusculum (27-20, 13-11 SAC). L-R narrowly finished second in the regular season by just two games, as the Bears are also currently ranked No. 2 in the NCAA Southeast Region poll.

The strikeout machine (276 K's) and first team all-conference pitcher in Lauren Rakes (19-3) for L-R, and Emily Sappington (11-11) of Tusculum are tomorrow's projected starters inside the circle.

Game 4 (6:30 p.m. EST) – No. 3-Seed Wingate vs. No. 6-Seed Carson-Newman

Three-seed Wingate (35-16, 17-7 SAC) and six-seed Carson-Newman (33-15, 13-11 SAC) will play out the day's final quarterfinal in Harrogate. The Lady Bulldogs went on a tear down the stretch to finish third in the conference, ending their league regular season schedule with a dominant sweep over Lincoln Memorial last Saturday.

Sydney Kale of Wingate (10-10) and Sara King of Carson-Newman (16-8) are Friday's final quarterfinal projected starters in the circle.
