Columbia, SC- The Lincoln Memorial men's and women's wrestling squads were on the road today, November 29th, at Allen University.
The women earned their first program win in the dual over the Lady Jackets. Double forfeits in the 101 and 109 pound weight classes would keep the match even going into 116 class. Allen would forfeit the matchup, allowing Lincoln Memorial to take up the 5-0 lead.
Ashley Morris and
Calista Gibson would both win by pin in the 123 and 130 pound weight classes, respectively, to extend the lead to 15-0.
Jenna Blinkewicz would add another win by fall a couple of weight classes later (170 lbs) to help the Lady Railsplitters make history.
Hernand Pinto would open the dual strong for the men's squad with a major decision win in the 125 pound weight class.
Kade Millsaps would win with a pin in the 141 pound weight class to allow LMU to take a 10-6 lead. Back-to-back decision wins in the 157 and 165 weight classes by
Logan Simpson and
Nicholas Krauss, respectively, extended the lead to 16-7. A switch in momentum would favor the Yellow Jackets, however, as they would take the remaining matchups, letting Allen win the contest 28-16.
The women will be back in action on Friday, December 1st, at the University of the Cumberlands for the Patriot Duals starting at 11 AM. The men will return to the mat on Sunday, December 3rd, when they travel to Lake Erie College for the Lake Erie Open, beginning at 10 AM.
