Huntsville, AL - Lincoln Memorial's Men's volleyball team went to the Second Annual AVCA Fall Collegiate Beach National Championships this past weekend, hosted by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) . This is the first men's
collegiate beach team national championship. The event was presented by the
United States Marine Corp and
Baden Sports.
The matches were best 2 out of 3 to 21 and 15 if set three was needed.
The LMU men finished the weekend in three-way tie for first place and ended up in second place in pool play based on points scored and went to the Championship round. Coach Hogg said he felt LMU was well represented at the tournament.
1st place - Westcliff
2nd place - Lincoln Memorial
3rd place - Webber
4th place - Stevenson
5th place - Tusculum
In the championship round against eventual winner, Westcliff (3-2), Matt Gentry and
John Luers were Pair 1 and won their match, 2-1.
The 2 and 3 pairs went to Westcliff with Zayden LaBreche and Asa LaBreche, and
Tate Colebaugh and
Luigi Pacini both losing in three.
Pair 4 duo
Diego Clark Keith and Griffin Wheatley swept their match in two, and Pair 5,
Kohl Kutsch and Charlie
Johan Negron, dropped theirs in two.
