The Lincoln Memorial softball team travels south to Greeneville, Tenn., on Wednesday to face Tusculum for its first road South Atlantic Conference contest of the season at Red Edmonds Field beginning at 1 p.m.
 
The Lady Railsplitters (17-10, 3-1 SAC) will take on the in-state rival Pioneers (11-12, 0-4 SAC) in each team's third conference twinbill of the year. Lincoln Memorial is coming off a sweep of UVA Wise (4-2 and 3-2) last Saturday while Tusculum got swept at No. 21 Lenoir-Rhyne the same day.
 
Lincoln Memorial and Tusculum share common conference opponent Emory & Henry, who the Railsplitters split with on Feb. 22 before the Pioneers got swept by the Wasps on March 1. Tusculum beat then-No. 15 Kutztown 5-0 back on Feb. 6 at the UNC Pembroke Invitational.
 
The host Pioneers finished 27-21 (13-11 SAC) a year ago to place in a tie for sixth in the regular season standings. Tusculum fell to Lenoir-Rhyne in the conference tournament quarterfinals to conclude its 2022 season.
 
The Lincoln Memorial offense leads all of Division II in walks (112) while leading the SAC in sacrifice bunts (22, 10^th nationally). The Railsplitters are eighth nationally in total runs (159), ninth in total hits (200) and 12^th in doubles (41).
 
Pitcher Emma Frost leads the country in complete games (12) while leading the SAC in wins (10) and shutouts (3), ranking 5^th and 13^th in those categories in Division II, respectively.
 
Tusculum leads the league and stands at fourth in Division II in total doubles (45). Freshman Sammy Jimenez leads the SAC and ranks sixth nationally with four triples, while junior outfielder Claire Smeltzer is fourth in Division II in doubles (10), seventh in hits (33) and 11^th in RBI (27) so far this season.
