Harrogate, TN- The men's and women's tennis team played the University of Cumberlands today at the indoor tennis complex. Both the men's and women's teams came on top with victory.
WOMEN'S
The Railsplitters women's team finished with a 5-2 win. Lincoln Memorial asserted their dominance early in the day by sweeping doubles play, establishing an early 1-0 lead.
The University of Cumberland's, Fan Shiau managed to secure the team's first victory of the day, narrowing the deficit to 3-1. The junior displayed commendable performance, clinching a solid 6-0, 7-6 win over Sophia Array in the #4 singles position. Nevertheless, the Railsplitters swiftly countered with a win at #3 singles, extending their lead to 4-2 and securing the overall victory.
The #5 singles match also proved to be fiercely contested, with Mar Garcia Bucosa. She lost the opening set 6-4 but won the second set 6-2. With great effort, Mar Garcia Bucosa ultimately out beat her opponent in a closely contested third set, with a final score of 13-11.
The Railsplitters seized the advantage in doubles, securing victories at #1 and #2 doubles to claim an early 1-0 lead. They finished with a 5-2 record, and they are now 2-1 on the year.
MEN'S
The Lincoln Memorial University men's team won in a 4-3 victory over the University of the Cumberlands.
The first, second, and third singles matches started the singles matches off with a sweep. Alexandru Giurea was the first singles match-up, and he was able to knock down his opponent in 2 sets. Up next was Radu Florea, who won in three sets. William Jonsson beat his opponent in the third matchup.
In the double's matchups, all three duos from Lincoln Memorial beat UC's doubles. Sergio Sebastian Aranzeta Bonita and Alexandru Giurea took on M. Mueller and H. Wu, the duo from Lincoln Memorial secured the win. The other two duos were Thom Hermans and Harper Mills, Nic Goslar and William Jonsson.

The Lincoln Memorial men's team will be back at home Febuary 16th. The following day, the women's team will compete against Milligan College.
