Lincoln Memorial Track concludes their Indoor Season at the SAC Championship

Harrogate, TN- The Lincoln Memorial University men's and Women's track and field teams competed at the SAC Indoor Championships this weekend hosted by the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C. 

The Lincoln Memorial Women's team landed 8th place. The Lincoln Memorial men's team tied for 9th. 

The Wingate women scored 207 points to finish first, followed by Lenoir-Rhyne in second with 131 points and Carson-Newman in third with 68. On the men's side, Wingate finished first with 177 points, while Lenoir-Rhyne took second with 132 points and Tusculum claimed third with 55 points. 

Both the men's and women's teams have had phenomenal success in the indoor track this year. Many program records were broken, many gold medals were won, and many personal bests were established. The teams got to test their skill against some of the highest level of competition, including SEC matchups.  

On Saturday, Sterling Webb placed 1st in the Pentathlon 60m Hurdles (9.14m) and the Pentathlon Long Jump (5.51m). In her long jump performance, she hit the mark at 18'1, smashing all of her competitors and her own previous school record. Webb also went on to place 4th in the Women's Indoor Pentathlon 800m. She placed seventh in the Pentathlon High Jump and in the Pentathlon Shot Put. Her performance landed her gold in the Women's Pentathlon Podium.  

In the field events, Navaeh Kerns scored bronze in the women's weight throw. Her throw of 49'3.75" out marked her previous school record she set at the Centre Invitational back in February. Cate Lensch placed 4th in the Women's Pole Vault (10'8.0).  

The Women's Distance Medley Relay fell short of bronze by one place. The team consisted of Lady Railsplitters Katilee CroftEreyonna Gore, Reaghan Curde, and Kaylee Estridge

Another noteworthy performance on the women's side is Harper Russell 6th place finish in the Women's 800. Russell crossed the finish line 2:21.79, just a few seconds short of her personal best. 

The Men's Distance Medley Relay placed 2nd overall behind Anderson University. Cash Coggin led the team followed by Clayon Cooper, Alex Knutz, and Marig Engelbrecht

Luis Borkey from the men's team placed 4th in the Men's 800m. The freshman ran a 1:57.41, just short of his personal best and placing bronze. 

The Railsplitters will look to further their success in the outdoor season in March. The outdoor season will open at Cumberland, Kentucky on March 15th
