Cleveland, TN -- The Lincoln Memorial track and field programs delivered a comprehensive performance at the Lee Fast Break Invitational, resulting in eighth place overall team finishes for both the men and women. The Lady Railsplitters secured their spot with 34 points while the Railsplitters earned 32 points during the competitive two day meet held at the Lee Track Complex.
The men's team was powered by a victory in the 400 meter dash as Vincent Quilici took first place with a time of 47.16. He was joined in the event by Caleb Chittum who finished in 50.61, Orion Wright in 50.87, and Justus Long who crossed the line in 51.48. In the 400 meter hurdles, Hunter Preston led the Railsplitters with a fourth place finish in 56.62 followed by Nile Mclymont who finished in 58.53. The 3000 meter steeplechase saw a trio of Lincoln Memorial runners compete as Jaxson Branham finished in 9:20.82, Vance Laster in 9:38.97, and Conner Chandler in 9:39.11. In other track events, the middle distance group saw Joel Boerkey lead the 800 meter run in 1:52.78 followed by Roman Borghetti-Metz in 1:54.30, Clayon Cooper in 1:57.52, and Sam Fulton in 1:57.95. Clayon Cooper also paced the 1500 meter run in 4:03.95 followed by Roman Borghetti-Metz in 4:10.51 and Spencer Baldwin in 4:12.69. David Gober represented the squad in the 5000 meter run with a time of 16:39.22 while Justus Long and Orion Wright competed in the 200 meter dash with times of 22.98 and 23.11 respectively.
The Railsplitters found significant success in the throwing events led by Jackson Clonce and Avery Hatfield. In the hammer throw, Jackson Clonce secured fifth place with a mark of 47.61 meters while Avery Hatfield took seventh place at 45.04 meters. Jackson Clonce also competed in the shot put, marking 13.56 meters, and the discus with a throw of 38.65 meters. Asher Hatfield added to the field results with a 25.10 meter mark in the discus. Additional field performances included Alexander Sanda in the triple jump with a leap of 12.60 meters, Cole Slusher in the hammer throw at 37.10 meters, and Seth Karnes who threw 36.39 meters in the hammer and 12.28 meters in the shot put. Austin Geer and Nathan Geer rounded out the men's field efforts with marks of 33.72 meters in the hammer and 11.08 meters in the shot put respectively.
The women's team highlights featured Theresa Brosthaus taking second place in the 800 meter run in 2:11.12 followed by Jacie Begley in eighth at 2:13.51 and Alyssa Roberts in 2:19.38. The women's 4x400 meter relay team also secured a second place finish with a time of 3:58.06. In the 3000 meter steeplechase, Greta Chizzali took fourth place in 11:07.93 with Natalia Iker finishing in 11:52.31. Callie Wetzel earned third place in the 400 meter hurdles at 1:03.28 and ninth in the 100 meter hurdles in 15.70. Other track results included Emma Hainzer and Reaghan Curde in the 1500 meter run with times of 4:41.48 and 4:56.35, while Allyssa Gent and Olivia Truelove ran the 5000 meter in 19:53.98 and 20:16.51. Jersy Nelke competed in the 100 meter hurdles in 16.23 and the 200 meter dash in 27.88, while Maggie Sanderson ran the 100 meter hurdles in 19.05.
The Lady Railsplitters throwers were led by Maggie Sanderson who took fifth in the javelin at 32.11 meters and Cate Turner who placed eighth in the hammer at 42.13 meters and the discus at 28.55 meters. Kylee Alvis placed eighth in the shot put at 11.25 meters, ninth in the discus at 35.00 meters, and twelfth in the hammer throw at 39.02 meters. Finishing the women's field results were Maggie Sanderson and Olivia Edenfield in the shot put with marks of 9.90 meters and 9.83 meters, while Madeline Dalton recorded a 27.93 meter throw in the hammer.
