Winston-Salem, NC -- The Lincoln Memorial University track and field teams delivered a series of standout performances at the South Atlantic Conference Championships held at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, highlighted by several podium finishes and a conference title. The Lady Railsplitters were led by the dominant effort of Ashley Parrish, who secured a conference championship in the weight throw with a winning mark of 55.05 feet. Parrish continued her stellar weekend by earning a runner-up finish in the shot put with a toss of 42.68 feet, cementing her status as one of the premier throwers in the field. Joining her in the scoring column for the weight throw were Cate Turner, who placed sixth at 44.13 feet, and Kylee Alvis, who finished seventh with a mark of 43.96 feet. Alvis also competed in the shot put, finishing twelfth with a mark of 35.27 feet, while Olivia Edenfield placed twenty-first in the shot put at 30.45 feet and twenty-fifth in the weight throw at 33.56 feet. Madeline Dalton added to the team effort with a thirty-first place finish in the weight throw at 28.38 feet.
In the women's pentathlon and hurdles, Sterling Webb put together an exhaustive and successful weekend that saw her claim multiple top honors within the multi-event competition, ultimately taking a runner-up finish in the women's indoor pentathlon. Webb was the top performer in both the 60m hurdles and the 800m portions of the pentathlon, showcasing her versatile speed. Her pentathlon campaign also included a second-place finish in the long jump at 17.55 feet, alongside a fourth-place finish in the high jump at 5.05 feet and an eighth-place finish in the shot put at 29.82 feet. In the open 60m hurdles, she ultimately finished fifth overall with a time of 8.84 seconds. Teammate Maggie Sanderson also completed the pentathlon, highlighted by a sixth-place finish in the 800m, an eleventh-place finish in the shot put at 28.25 feet, and twelfth-place finishes in both the 60m hurdles and long jump at 14.11 feet, along with a thirteenth-place result in the high jump at 4.46 feet. In the open high jump, Reilly Vierdag cleared 5.12 feet to take fifth place, while Emily McPherson also competed in the event. Jersy Nelke represented the Lady Railsplitters in the 60m hurdles prelims, finishing nineteenth.
The mid-distance and distance squads provided significant points for the Lincoln Memorial women, underscored by an impressive third-place podium finish from Theresa Brosthaus in the 800m with a time of 2:14.81. This followed a strong preliminary round where she qualified second. The distance medley relay team also reached the podium, as the quartet of Emma Hainzer, Callie Wetzel, Reaghan Curde, and Weslyn McIntosh earned a second-place finish in 12:10.83. In the open 800m, Jacie Begley followed closely in fifth place at 2:16.50, while Curde earned an eighth-place finish in the mile with a time of 5:12.27. The distance contingent was further represented by Hainzer and McIntosh, who finished twelfth and nineteenth respectively in the 3000m. In the 5000m, Olivia Truelove crossed the line in seventeenth place and Allyssa Gent finished twentieth. The 4x400m relay team featuring Wetzel, Begley, Webb, and Brosthaus concluded the women's track events by taking seventh.
On the men's side, Luis Boerkey delivered a premier performance in the 800m, fighting his way to a runner-up finish with a swift time of 1:51.20 to lead the Railsplitter track entries. His teammate, and twin brother, Joel Boerkey also scored in the event, placing seventh with a time of 1:56.74, while Sam Fulton finished sixteenth in the preliminary round. Vincent Quilici had a busy weekend in the sprints, taking fourth place in the 400m final with a time of 48.25 seconds and finishing tenth in the 200m prelims. In the longer distances, Jaxson Branham placed twelfth in the 3000m and fourteenth in the 5000m. Conner Chandler finished the 5000m in twenty-second place, followed by David Gober in twenty-eighth, while Simon Fillers was also scheduled to compete.
The men's field events saw Jackson Clonce provide scoring marks in both power disciplines, taking seventh in the shot put with a throw of 46.95 feet and eighth in the weight throw at 50.82 feet. Avery Hatfield also competed for the Railsplitters, placing twenty-third in the weight throw at 40.85 feet and thirty-first in the shot put at 32.38 feet. In relay action, the men's distance medley relay team of Fulton, Caleb Chittum, Roman Borghetti-Metz, and Vance Laster competed in the final, while the 4x400m relay squad consisting of Quilici, Boerkey, Otis Wright, and Hunter Preston also represented the blue and gray during the championship meet.
