Danville, KY -- Lincoln Memorial men's and women's track and field delivered a commanding performance at the Centre College Twilight meet in Danville, Kentucky, this past Friday, securing multiple individual victories and top-tier finishes across both track and field events. The distance squad set the tone for the Railsplitters as Theres Brosthaus claimed first place in the women 1500 meter run with a time of 4:37.71, followed closely by teammate
Jacie Begley in second at 4:43.46.
Greta Chizzali took sixth in 4:51.23, while
Katrien Sherwood finished in 5:18.11. On the men's side of the 1500 meter, Luis Borkey captured the event title with a time of 3:58.42, with
Vance Laster securing third place in 4:05.05. R. Borghetti-Metz and
Sam Fulton also competed for the men, finishing in 4:11.31 and 4:12.13 respectively.
The dominance in distance events continued in the 5000 meter run, where Emma Hainzer won the women's race in 18:08.42. Allyssa Gent finished eighth in 19:40.17 and Olivia Truelove crossed the line in 20:09.02. The men's 5000 meter saw a one-two finish for the Railsplitters, as Jaxson Branham took the victory in 15:11.07 just ahead of Conner Chandler in 15:11.56, while David Gober finished tenth with a time of 16:21.85. In the 800 meter events, Joel Boerkey earned another win for the men with a time of 1:54.15, supported by Clayon Cooper in fifth at 1:55.91 and Sam Fulton in 2:01.37. Reaghan Curde led the women in the 800 meter with a fourth-place finish in 2:21.36, followed by Alyssa Roberts in sixth at 2:21.80.
In the hurdles and sprints, Callie Wetzel stood out by winning the women 400 meter hurdles in 1:03.22 and taking third in the 100 meter hurdles in 15.59. Maggie Sanderson also competed in the 100 meter hurdles, finishing in 18.66. For the men, Hunter Preston took second in the 400 meter hurdles in 58.05 and ran 52.03 in the 400 meter dash. Vincent Quilici represented the men well in the 200 meter dash, placing second in 21.73. Other sprint contributors included Reaghan Curde in the women's 400 meter dash at 1:03.06, while Orion Wright, Caleb Chittum, Justus Long, and Trevyn Beam covered various distances in the 100, 200, and 400 meter sprints.
The Railsplitters also found success in the field, highlighted by Emily McPherson taking third in the women high jump at 1.55 meters. Jackson Clonce led the men's throws with a fifth-place finish in the discus at 41.81 meters and a 13.10 meter mark in the shot put. In the women's throws, Kylee Alvis placed fourth in the javelin at 30.93 meters and ninth in the shot put at 10.80 meters. Cate Turner took fifth in the hammer throw with a toss of 43.43 meters, while Olivia Edenfield and Madeline Dalton also contributed in the hammer, shot put, and discus. Asher Hatfield placed eighth in the men's javelin at 41.39 meters, and Avery Hatfield threw 42.16 meters in the hammer. Jersy Nelke led the long jump efforts at 4.89 meters, joined by Maggie Sanderson and Jewel Gamedah to round out a productive Friday for Lincoln Memorial.
