Harrogate, TN- The Lincoln Memorial Women's bowling team is traveling to Emmitsburg, Maryland today to compete in the The Mount Shootout. The Mount Shootout is hosted by Mount St. Mary's University.
In their only two meetings, the Lincoln Memorial team has not been able to beat Mount Mary. The first time these teams met was in 2019 at the Vernell Stallings Women's Bowling Invitational in Greensboro, North Carolina. The last time these two teams met, Mount St. Mary also came away with victory in a tight matchup in 2022.
Previously, the Railsplitters placed 8th at the Columbia 300 Saints Invite. The team won 5 matches and tallied a total of 11,670 pins. During the initial baker match held on Sunday, Lincoln Memorial University recorded a score of 865, while their competitors from Central Missouri achieved a score of 883. In the subsequent round of baker matches, LMU faced a defeat against the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater with a score of 907-1037. However, the team reversed their fortunes in the third match against the leading team, Mckendree, surpassing them 954-924. Wrapping up the day's events, the team secured victory in the final baker match against Wright State University with a score of 960-893.
The tournament will kick off on Friday and will consist of five sets of five-game baker matches. Saturday will kickstart five traditional team games. On Sunday, the tournament will finish with three best-of-seven baker matches in bracket play.
The Railsplitters look to the Mount Shootout as a way to prepare for the USBC Sectionals that are on March 8 to March 10th.
