Railsplitters Dominate against Oakland City University, Set Sights on Conference Match

Harrogate, TN- The Lincoln Memorial men's and women's tennis teams concluded their matches today at the indoor tennis complex. The teams took on Oakland City University, a NAIA team out of Indiana. 

The teams played to clinch. In tennis, "playing to clinch" typically refers to a scenario where a player or team aims to win a particular match or set to secure victory in the overall competition. Both teams were able to prepare for more conference play, as they will take on four consecutive SAC (South Atlantic Conference) teams starting tomorrow and ending March 21st. 

On the women's side, Mar Garcia Bucosa and Carla Ramonet won on court 2 in the double's matchups 6-1. Lucie Palud and Rosalie Carrier-Dulac took down their opponents 6-1.  

Rosalie Carrier-Dulac took the #1 singles matchup against Maria Trembach. The Lady Railsplitter claimed victory in two sets (6-1, 6-2). On the second court, Adriana Pellizzari won in a 6-2, 6-2 match against Liz Aristizabal. Mar Garcia Bucosa made her 5th win of the season on court five. The rest of the matches were unfinished, but the Lady Railsplitters were able to clinch victory 

On the men's side, the Railsplitters won 4-1. Oakland City University took the doubles point as the Railsplitters were only able to take away one win on court two. Harper Mills and Thom Hermans have a 72% overall win record as a duo this season.  

William Jonsson won in two sets on court two against Jose Perez (6-3, 6-1).  

Radu Florea beat Christian Salmeron on court three (7-5, 6-4).  

Thom Hermans took the #4 singles spot and lost in his first set but was able to battle back 6-4 in the second set. In the third set, he clinched victory 6-0.  

Franco Battaglino won on court five against Oakland City University's Willem Cilliers 6-2,6-3.  

The Lincoln Memorial Tennis team will compete in their third conference matchup tomorrow against Emory & Henry at 2:00 p.m. at the indoor tennis facility. The women's team will kick off first and the men's matches will conclude the day. The men's team will be looking to pick up their third conference win of the year, making them 3-0. While the women's team is looking to turn momentum around in SAC play by picking up their first conference win of the season.
