Lenoir City, TN- The #2 LMU Men's golf team was victorious at the Tennessee River Rumble this week at WindRiver Golf Club. The first place finish comes out of a 20 team field, including a narrow one-stroke victory over the #1 team in the country in North Georgia.
LMU sent two five-man squads to compete in the tournament. The other squad finished 14th and included
Ian Taggart,
Jantai Malataev,
Tyler Harris,
Cade Preston, and
Graedon Woodward. Taggart led the way for that group, finishing tied for 35th at six-over.
The other squad would be led by
George Durkan yet again, who finished one-under from rounds of 69-70-76, good for a fifth place tie.
Alex James and
Jamie Dean would follow, both shooting even par to finish tied for 8th. James would do it through rounds of 72-73-71 while Dean's would be in rounds of 72-69-75.
Loic Naas would also finish in the Top 25 for the Railsplitters, helping them edge out the victory. LMU trailed North Georgia for most of the tournament, taking the lead at the end of the last round to help solidify their dominance as a top golf program in DII.
This spring, LMU has been in the Top 3 teams at every event they've competed in, with this week's win marking the second team victory of the season. LMU will have one more tournament in the regular season before conference through the Argonaut Invitational hosted by West Florida at Pensacola Country Club on April 8th and 9th.
