No. 4 Railsplitter Golf Places Third in Rainy, Shortened Hurricane Invitational

ALBANY, Ga. – The No. 4 Lincoln Memorial University men's golf team wrapped up the 2026 Hurricane Invitational with a third place team finish at two-over par after numerous delays and a canceled third round.

The rain started late Sunday night and persisted throughout the day on Monday, Oct. 5, presenting a challenge for the field of 14 teams. Junior Harry Dickins was the top performer for the Railsplitters, ending his tournament at two-under (68-74), tying for an eighth-place finish. Junior Edward Mason was the only other Railsplitter to not end the tournament shooting over-par, ending the tournament even (72-72), good enough to tie for 18. Senior Henry Drake finished off his tournament tied for 27, shooting two-over par (70-76). Senior Morgan Cain (74-75) and Freshman Henry Linley (76-73) both finished their tournament at five-over par, tied for 44. Individually, Junior Ryan Gavin tied for 39 with a four-over par (74-74) performance.

On the first day of the tournament there was only enough time for one round, in which the Railsplitters shot four-under par as a team. Dickins led the way the first round, shooting four-under par (68) despite the rough conditions. Drake had himself a good first round as well, finding himself two-under par (70). Mason shot even-par (72) to contribute to the Splitters team score. Cain produced the final team score for the Splitters at two-over par (74) for the first round. Linley found himself at five-over par (76), and Gavin landed at two-over par (74) for the first round. After the first round the Railsplitters were just behind No. 6 Georgia Southwestern State University, who sat at five-under par.

The second round started early on Tuesday, Oct. 6, with cloudy skies looming over the course. The Railsplitters couldn't capture the first round magic they previously had, with Mason leading the way shooting even-par (72) to end his day. Linley followed right behind with a one-over par (73) of his own. Dickins landed a two-over par (74) performance, and Cain rounded out the Railsplitters team scoring for the second round with a three-over par (75) himself. Drake shot four-over par (76) and individually Gavin landed at two-over par (74) to finish the tournament.

For the third straight week the Railsplitters faced top-ranked competition, including No. 1 Florida Southern College, No. 6 Georgia Southwestern State, No. 8 Nova Southeastern University, No. 9 Columbus State University, No. 11 Wingate University, and No. 20 USC Beaufort. Carson-Newman University, Valdosta State University, and Georgia College and State University were also receiving votes. Rounding out the field was Delta State University, Mississippi Christian University, Emmanuel College, and Palm Beach Atlantic University.

The Railsplitters have a short break before being back in action Oct. 12-13 in the Copperhead Championship in Palm Harbor, Fla., at the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook, hosted by Saint Leo University.
