Lincoln Memorial Men's and Women's Track Teams Primed for SAC Outdoor Tournament

Harrogate, TN- The stage is set for an exhilarating meet-up of track and field as the Lincoln Memorial Men's and Women's Track teams gear up for the SAC Outdoor Tournament. 

As the South Atlantic Conference Outdoor Tournament approaches, the Lincoln Memorial Men's and Women's Track teams are poised for action. The Railsplitters are ready to showcase their talent in Hickory, North Carolina, on May 1st and May 2nd. 

Both the men's and women's teams have demonstrated remarkable strides throughout their season. Under the guidance of their coaches and fueled by a shared passion for excellence, these athletes have trained tirelessly to hone their skills and build camaraderie. 

Lincoln Memorial boasts a roster of exceptional talent, with athletes who excel in various disciplines. From sprints to distance events, jumps to throws, the Railsplitters have athletes who are ready to compete at the highest level. Their versatility and depth make them formidable opponents in any event, providing them with numerous opportunities to shine at the SAC Outdoor Tournament. 

In the middle-distance events, Spencer Baldwin and Cash Coggin will represent the Railsplitters in the 1500m race. Sam Fulton will join Baldwin and Coggin in the 1500m. 

Luis Borkey will lead the team in the 800m. Head Coach Rochelle Black has his head held high for Borkey's statement, "he (Luis) continues to climb the rankings in the 800. What's stood out is his competitiveness. He'll battle through the rounds, and we'll cheer him on the entire way."

For the steeplechase, Jaxson Branham and Connor Chandler will demonstrate their talents. Marig Engelbrecht will tackle both the 5000m and 3000m Steeplechase events, showcasing his versatility as a distance runner. 

In the long-distance events, Simon Fillers will compete in the 10000m, aiming to set his pace and maintain endurance throughout the race.  

In the hurdles, Nile McLymont, Hunter Preston, and Patrick Zuralski will compete fiercely in the 400m hurdles, aiming to navigate the barriers with speed and precision. 

Meanwhile, Hank Fisher will be a key figure in the field events, participating in the Discus, Hammer, and Javelin throw competitions, showcasing his strength and technique across a variety of events. 

Nathan McBride, Avery Hatfield, and Alex Yager will add depth to the team's field events with their participation in the Men's Hammer throw. McBride will also join in on the Discus throw. Holt Hensley will round out the field events for the Railsplitters in the Javelin throw. 

The Lincoln Memorial Women's Track team is equally prepared for success, with athletes ready to compete across various events.  

In the middle-distance events, Theresa Brosthaus, Abbey Mohan, and Harper Russell will lead the charge in the 800m, setting the pace and aiming for podium finishes.  

Katilee Croft and Reaghan Curde will demonstrate their endurance in the 1500m, while Weslyn McIntosh will compete in both the 1500m and 5000m races, showcasing her range as a distance runner. 

Lidija Djokic will showcase her agility and speed in the 400m hurdles, as well as contribute to the 4X400m relay team alongside Destiny Gibbs, Mataylin Goins, and Trinity Hine. Mataylin Goins will be the lone competitor in the Women's 100m hurdles and Destiny Gibbs will compete in the Women's 400m run. 

Maggie Sanderson, Gillian Strealy, Sterling Webb, and Sara Winegar will compete in the Heptathlon, demonstrating their versatility across multiple events and contributing to the team's overall success. 

Freshman, Sterling Webb made podium finishes in the indoor season, and looks to do the same for the outdoor. Coach Rochelle Black noted, "Sterling is going in with a chance to be top three once again. As a freshman, that's quite the accomplishment. We hope we are able to have good performances over the next two days." 

Grace Rose, a standout athlete, will compete in the Women's 5000m. In regard to her performances over the season, Head Coach Rochelle Black mentioned, "Grace has really stepped up this season. She's really pushed herself, and it's paid off." 

Emily McPherson will showcase her talents in the High Jump. 

Nevaeh Kerns will represent the team in the Discus and Hammer throw, aiming to make her presence felt in the field events while Cate Turner will compete in the Hammer throw, adding depth to the team's field events 

Kylee Alvis will be a standout competitor, participating in Shot Put, Discus, Hammer, and Javelin throw events, showcasing her versatility and strength in the field. 

Coach Black states, "This is the culmination of a year's worth of training. Seeing the team work together this year has been up and down, but that's athletics. Seeing their ability to battle through adversity has been fantastic. Now, we see step on the line and get to work." 

Preparation is key to success, and the LMU Track and Field team has left no stone unturned in their quest for victory. With focused training regimens, strategic planning, and attention to detail, they are primed to excel in Hickory. The coaching staff has meticulously prepared the athletes both physically and mentally, ensuring they are ready to rise to the challenge when it matters most.
