PRs Galore: Lincoln Memorial Shines at Lee Fast Break Invitational, Russell and Rose break School Records

Harrogate, TN - The Lincoln Memorial University men's and women's track and field teams showcased their prowess at the Lee Fast Break Invitational this past weekend. Over the course of the two-day event, the Railsplitters delivered stellar performances, notching numerous season bests and personal records in the 2024 outdoor season. 

Notable Performances: 

Freshman Vincent Quilici blazed through the Men's 400m, crossing the line in an impressive 49.57 seconds. Meanwhile, senior Destiny Gibbs represented the Railsplitters in the Women's 400m, securing a commendable 7th place finish. 

Patrick Zuralski demonstrated his skill in the Men's 400m Hurdles, clocking in at 56.40 seconds, narrowly missing out on a podium finish. Nile Mclymont, another upperclassman, posted a solid time of 1:01.14 in the same event. 

In the Men's 800m, newcomer Luis Borkey showcased his potential with a season-best time of 1:54.60. Harper Russell led the charge for the women's team in the 800m, achieving not only a personal record but a school record of 2:15.89, closely followed by Abbey Mohan with a sub 2:20 time in heat two, marking her season's best at 20th place. 

Katilee Croft achieved her season best in the Women's 1500m, clocking in at 4:46.86, while Reaghan Curde secured a personal record of 4:48.80 in the same event. 

Marig Engelbrecht finished in the Men's 5000m with a time of 15:16.76. Engelbrecht looks to improve in the upcoming meets. On the other hand, Grace Rose established a new personal record and school record in the Women's 5000m, finishing 10th with a time of 17:35.12. 

The Men's 4x400 Meter Relay team, comprised of Patrick Zuralski, Nile Mclymont, Vincent Quilici, and Clayon Cooper, put forth a commendable effort, clocking a time of 3:22.15, securing a respectable 5th place finish. 

Looking Ahead: 

As the Railsplitters look to the SAC Outdoor Championships in May, they carry the momentum from previous meets and inch closer to their desired marks for the season. 

Up Next: 

The Railsplitters will continue their quest for excellence as they head to Maryville, Tennessee, to compete in the Scots Invitational. The meet is scheduled to take place at the Austin Coleman Piper Memorial Track from April 12th to April 13th.
