Harrogate, TN - Three days after falling to the Converse Valkyries on the road, the Lincoln Memorial field hockey team is on the road once again, this time traveling to Hartsville, SC for a match up with the Coker Cobras on Tuesday night. It'll be the first time this season the two teams have met. The Railsplitters enter the contest with a 3-6 record, including an 0-3 mark in conference play. The Cobras enter the game with a 2-7 record, including a 2-4 mark in conference play.
A look at common opponents tells the tale of both teams. Lincoln Memorial has wins over Maryville, American International, and Barton College, all of which have been on the road. Coker has two wins on the season, both of which have come against Barton, out scoring the Bulldogs 9-3 combined. However, against common opponents such as Wingate and Converse, the Cobras have been out scored 25-2 -- dropping all four contests. Although the Railsplitters have only played Wingate and Converse once each, they've managed much more competitive games, falling by a combined 7-2 between both games. Even with combining both losses against 7th-ranked Lander to the Lincoln Memorial goal total with the matches against Wingate and Converse, the Railsplitters are still achieving much more competitive results, dropping the combined four games by a 14-4 margin, compared to the 25-2 margin posted by the Cobras against similar or lower ranked competition.
Lincoln Memorial is chasing program history on multiple fronts. The Railsplitters' next win gives them the program record for most wins in a season. With one more goal,
Olivia Rosini will become the Lincoln Memorial all-time individual goals leader as well. There is a lot on the line for both teams as each tries to find solid ground to dig into for the remainder of the season in an attempt to finish the year strong.
The Railsplitters and Cobras are slated to begin at 6 PM on Tuesday in Hartsville, SC.
