Women's Wrestling Performs At ESU Open

East Stroudsburg, PA – The season began on Sunday for the Lincoln Memorial Women's Wrestling team, as the Railsplitters faced competition in the East Stroudsburg Open hosted by East Stroudsburg University. The Railsplitters finished the day tied for 21st out of 33 teams competing in the open invitational.

Freshman Sirenity Curtis would win her first collegiate bout, taking down her Round of 32 opponent in the 103-pound weight class from Elmira via fall in just 50 seconds, earning two points.

Leah Adriaanse would add to the freshman success for the Splitters, earning a win over her opponent from New Jersey City University in the opening round of the 117-pound weight class by way of the fall, wrestling for over a minute and netting the Railsplitters six points.

In the 124-pound weight class, Delaney Nichols would earn her first collegiate win over an opponent from Norwich in the Round of 32, earning a win by superiority in 59 seconds to get 11 points for LMU.

Returning Sophomore and pre-season wrestler to watch Sophia Walls would win her opening bout of the 131-pound division, defeating an opponent from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute by superiority, earning 10 points.

Fellow wrestler to watch Shonticia Taft would make a run for the women in the consolation round of the 145-pound weight class, defeating an opponent from Misericordia in the opening round via fall in 35 seconds. Taft swept the Round of 16 in the consolation bracket, defeating opponents from Wilkes and Lehigh to make it to the quarterfinals.

Shandrea Morgan would mirror Taft's run through the consolation bracket in the 160-pound weight class, defeating an opponent from Wilkes in the opening round via fall before taking her next two wins via superiority, including a win over a wrestler from King.

The Railsplitters look to capitalize off this early success next weekend, as the Railsplitters will face off in the Eagle Madness Open hosted by Life University on November 8th.
