Women’s Basketball Set to Travel to Catawba Saturday for First Conference Road Matchup

Salisbury, NC - Lincoln Memorial women's basketball aims to keep the win streak alive as they travel to Saliabury, NC on Saturday for their first SAC match up on the road this season against Catawba at 2 pm. 

The weekend match up will be the 38th overall meeting between the two teams, with the Lady Railsplitters falling in the series 15-22. The most recent contest between LMU and Catawba was last season on January 18th at home, where Lincoln Memorial fell 48-56. The last time that the two teams faced each other in Saliabury was also last season on November 30th, and LMU dropped that game 59-66. 

Lincoln Memorial is coming off a 88-77 win in their conference opener against Lenoir-Rhyne on November 28th. Alexa Smiddy led the team with 31 points while also tallying a team-high three assists, while Sariya Henry and Asia Barr led the team in rebounds with six each. 

Currently, Lexi Patty is leading the team in scoring average with 16.3 points per game, with Kamil Collier and Smiddy also averaging double-digits with 14 and 12.8 points per game, respectively. On the boards, Collier is the team leader in  rebounds per game with 8.8, followed by Patty with 6.8 per game. 

In the South Atlantic Conference, Smiddy is fifth in total assists (20), fourth in assists per game (4), ninth in total steals (14), fourth in steals per game (2.8), eighth in three pointers made (9), and third in assist/turnover ratio (2.86). Patty is seventh in assists per game (3.3), seventh in field goal percentage (49%), tenth in points per game (16.3), and eighth in defensive rebounds per game (5.3). Collier is second in double doubles (2), fifth in field goal percentage (50%), fifth in free throw percentage (86.7%), seventh in total rebounds (44), fifth in defensive rebounds per game (6), and fifth in offensive rebounds per game (2.8). Maleiya Hill is leading the conference in assist/turnover ratio (5.67) and sixth in assists per game (3.4). Asia Barr is second in three point percentage (41.7%), eighth in three pointers made (10), and eighth in three pointers per game (2). Keiara Anderson is sixth in three point percentage (37%), eighth in three pointers made (10), and eighth in three pointers per game (2).

Nationally, Collier is 29th in double doubles, Hill is second in assist/turnover ratio, and Smiddy is 17th in assist/turnover ratio. 

As a team, Lincoln Memorial is second in the conference in assist/turnover ratio (1.08), third in assists per game (16.2), first in field goal percentage defense (35.1%), third in rebound margin (3), first in scoring defense (54.6), first in scoring margin (23.4), first in scoring offense (78), second in steals per game (13.2), second in three point attempts per game (29.4), third in three point percentage (35.4), second in three point percentage defense (22.9), first in three pointers per game (10.4), second in turnover margin (7.60), third in turnovers forced per game (22.60), and tied for first in winning percentage (100%).

Catawba is coming off of a 54-62 loss over Shorter on December 3rd. 

Leaders for Catawba are Mary Spry (#24), who leads in scoring average at 19.5 points per game and rebounds per game with 5.8. Bailee Goodlett (#10) follows her with 14.3 points per game and 5 rebounds per game. 

Lincoln Memorial is entering Saturday with a undefeated 5-0 record, including a 1-0 mark in conference play. LMU is sitting in first place in the SAC standings as the only team with a perfect record. LMU most recently landed in the WBCA Coaches' Poll as receiving votes. 

The Catawba Indians are coming into the weekend with a 2-4 overall record and a 0-1 SAC record. In the conference standings, Catawba is sitting in 11th place.
