Now in their final regular season meet, Lincoln Memorial will be seeking to make the final "tweaks" of the season ahead of conference championships. "This weekend will really tell us where we are," said men's and women's track and field assistant coach Jeff Kavalunas. "Most have gotten one or two meets in early in the season. It's been a good training block the last couple of weeks. A couple that didn't race as much early are kind of fine-tuning some things and seeing where they are. It will give me a good idea of the things I need to tweak as far as training goes heading into conference championships. It's going to be a 'business as usual' approach to things, but we are going to do a few different things to identify what areas may need more work than others to ensure that we are prepared for the upcoming conference championships."
Director of track and field
Rochelle Black echoed many of Kavalunas' sentiments, highlighting how helpful the final meet of the season is for gauging what areas need fine-tuning ahead of the postseason. "We went to this meet last year and performed well," said Black. "I think this is a good litmus test for us, seeing that the track is laid out very similarly to that which we will see in our conference championships. A flat 200m track is a different track as opposed to what we've been running on for most of the season. Not everyone has run week after week. Where as some schools go back-to-back-to-back, we like to give our athletes a little bit of time in between to train. The weather hasn't been the best but it's something we have to work with. For me, I'm looking most forward to seeing us be competitive. Hopefully it'll translate to the conference championships."
