Harrogate, TN- (RV) LMU is set to host the Abe's Invitational this Saturday, March 1st, and Sunday, March 2nd. The Invitational will feature Elizabeth City State University, Lewis University, and Bloomsburg University in addition to Lincoln Memorial.
The Railsplitters are 12-5 thus far, coming off a series split against Lee on the road this past Wednesday. Their second win over the Flames included a great game from
Gracie Palmer, going 4-4 from the plate and 1.000 in the field. As a team, the Splitters are hitting .292 on the season, holding a .771 OPS with a .391 slugging percentage and a .380 on-base percentage.
Hanna Bogoski continues to lead the way overall for the Splitters, holding a .432/.512/.595 slash line with a team-high 14 RBI.
Reese Vivrette has also made an impact in her times at the plate, leading the team in slugging percentage at .610 with a 1.100 OPS and in total bases, tallying 25 on the season so far.
Hannah McMeen's 15 runs scored have also been key, McMeen earning her way on base at a .466 rate, drawing 11 walks already on the season. In the circle, the LMU pitching staff has a combined ERA of 3.44 with a 1.60 WHIP, including four shutouts so far.
Elizabeth City State will be LMU's first opponent, playing them at noon on Saturday. ECSU is 3-6 to start the season, falling to Tuskegee and Bowie State while picking up a win over Kentucky State two weekends ago. The Vikings have hit .296 on the season with a .346 on-base and .407 slugging percentage. Their pitching has a combined ERA of 6.26 while holding a .378 batting average against them. Allison Perry leads her squad in average, hitting .455 on the year with 15 hits and six RBI. The contest will mark the first between the two programs, the second coming on Sunday when they will face off again at 4 PM.
The 2 PM contest on Saturday will feature LMU facing off with Bloomsburg. Bloomsburg was one of the schools that participated in one of last season's home invitational tournaments, the Splitters taking that contest by a score of 13-5. They are 4-0 all-time against the Huskies. This year's version of Bloomsburg Softball has only played two games, dropping both in a series to Goldey-Beacom College. They have hit .203 through those two games, being outscored four to six in those contests. Bloomsburg was picked fifth in their PSAC's Preseason Coaches Poll.
Another first-time opponent for the Splitters will be the Flyers of Lewis University. Lewis is 9-7 so far this season and is coming off a 3-1 stretch at the Rosemont Dome this past weekend. That slate of games included a win over Wayne State, an opponent LMU also saw a win over earlier this season. The Flyers are scheduled to play another game today, February 28th, against Thomas More en route to their way to Harrogate for the weekend. The Flyers are batting .310 as a team this season, reaching base at a .384 percentage and slugging .400 so far. Their hitting has included 30 extra-base hits, eight of those being homers. Their staff in the circle has an ERA of 2.77 with three shutouts, holding opponents to a .240 average against. Delaney Garden and Nicole Magdziasz have been their leaders, hitting .481 and .473, respectively.Â
