Harrogate, TN - Following a 2-2 split through four games at North Georgia over the weekend, the Lincoln Memorial baseball team goes back on the road Wednesday, visiting the 22nd-ranked Lee Flames in Cleveland, TN for the first game of a home-and-home two game series this season.
Against North Georgia, Lincoln Memorial stumbled out of the gate offensively in game one, falling 9-1. However, the Railsplitters turned on the offense in the final three games of the series. In game two, Lincoln Memorial took a 6-4 victory to tie the series. The Nighthawks took an 8-1 advantage in game three before the Railsplitters battled back, falling just short of a fervent comeback, 8-7. Much like game three, game four of the series favored North Georgia early on, seeing the Nighthawks jump out to a 7-0 lead through four innings. However, the Railsplitters would not be denied, erasing a seven run deficit and taking the lead in the top of the ninth inning, 9-8, securing a victory in game four to split the series.
Alex Kowalski currently leads Lincoln Memorial in batting with a 1.307 OPS, .444 batting average, .833 SLG% and .474 OB%. Kowalski has driven in eight runs so far this season to lead the team. He has eight hits, including four doubles and one home run.
Sam Mast is averaging a 1.379 OPS, .417 batting average, .917 SLG% and .462 OB%. Mast connected on a pair of homers at North Georgia to help lead the comeback efforts. On the season, Mast have driven in five runs with five hits, including the pair of home runs.
Aiden Carter leads Lincoln Memorial from the bump. He is 1-0 on the season with 4.2 IP, allowing only three hits with zero runs, zero earned, two walks, and three strikeouts. He's allowing an extremely impressive .176 opposing batting average.
First pitch between the Railsplitters and Flames is slated for 3 PM in Cleveland, TN on Wednesday.
