Softball Travels to Sand Mountain Park to Tackle Slate of Games at Charger Chillout

Harrogate, TN- Lincoln Memorial softball will head south for the weekend, taking on a slate of teams at Sand Mountain Park in Albertville, Alabama, as part of this year's Charger Chillout.

The Splitters are coming off a 3-1 opening weekend at the Railsplitter Invitational. The team's Halle Grace Patton earned SAC Pitcher of the Week honors, tallying all three wins in the circle and throwing for two complete games with just a 2.80 ERA. Hanna Bogoski hit for .500 in the contests, tallying four hits in her at-bats on the weekend. Kristin Griffin also made an impressive debut for LMU, hitting .444 with a 1.667 OPS, slugging percentage of 1.000, and posting a .667 on-base percentage.

Lincoln Memorial will see its first opponent on Friday, February 7th, in Mississippi College at 1 PM (CST). The Choctaws saw honors for their own Blakely Gill, who hit .846 with a 2.439 OPS, 1.615 slugging percentage, and .824 on-base percentage in her collegiate debut. The team went 2-3 last weekend, upsetting #7 Augstana in their season opener. The teams have only met twice before in their history, Mississippi College taking both of the previous matchups.

Saturday's contests will feature the Splitters matched up with Delta State at 11 AM (CST) followed by Trevecca Nazarene at 1:30 PM (CST). The Lady Statesmen are seeing their first action of the 2025 season this weekend. They entered their first season under head coach Mark Shirley and were picked 12th in the GSC Preseason Coaches Poll. LMU holds the victory in the two programs' lone face-off last season in the 2024 version of this tournament. Trevecca Nazarene went 4-0 in the time at the Music City Invitational last weekend, including a 10-inning win over #3 University of Indianapolis. The Trojans were tabbed seventh in that same GSC Preseason Coaches Poll. The two Tennessee schools have met eight times before, Lincoln Memorial holding the edge 5-3 overall.

Christian Brothers will be Sunday's first opponent, the game slated for 11 AM (CST) first pitch. CBU has begun the 2025 season 4-0 with pitcher Gabby Dickerson throwing a no-hitter in their opening win over Henderson State. The sole game between the two teams also happened in the Chillout last season, with LMU taking that one by a score of 10-2. Lincoln Memorial also holds a pair of series history wins over Montevallo, taking both previous matchups between them and going for a third 1:30 (CST). The 2025 Falcons team is 1-1, both of their first two games of the season against ranked opponents.
