Sterling Webb wraps up performance at NCAA National Tournament

Harrogate, TN - It was a phenomenal season for Lincoln Memorial track and field athlete Sterling Webb. A season littered with program records and personal bests saw Webb earn a trip to the NCAA National Tournament in Indianapolis to compete in the women's pentathlon. Although it wasn't the desired finish, Webb's accomplishments throughout the season deserve immense recognition. At the national meet, Webb competed in the women's pentathlon. In the 60m hurdles, she took a 6th place finish with a time of 8.92. She took 10th in the high jump, clearing a height of 5 ft. 3/4 in. Webb posted no mark in the long jump. She finished 15th in the shot put with a distance of 30 ft. 11in. She also took 15th in the 800m with a time of 2:47.32, finshing 16th overall in the women's pentathlon.

Lincoln Memorial Director of Track and Field Rochelle Black heaped praise on Webb and her teammates, stating that they are raising the bar. "Sterling set out this season to make it to this meet, and she did," said Black. "The ending was one that no coach nor athlete wants, but she's still one of the top athletes in the country. What she's done this season was what the women's team has been doing since August, raising the bar. The things they're doing now were unfathomable a couple years back. The exception has become the expectation."

Black finalized by looking ahead to the quickly approaching outdoor track and field season. "As a team, we'll all regroup and focus on the outdoor season," he added. "We still have some goals to meet."
