Harrogate, TN -- The South Atlantic Conference announced its 2025 preseason field hockey rankings on Thursday, seeing Lincoln Memorial earn its highest preseason ranking in program history. The Railsplitters enter the 2025 season tabbed as the 6th best team in the conference ahead of Coker and Barton.
Last year, the season took a dramatic, positive turn when the Railsplitters secured their first ever home win against Maryville (MO), taking a 2-0 win. The following game against Converse was dedicated as the Breast Cancer Awareness game. Lincoln Memorial once again emerged victorious, claiming its first ever conference victory, only its third win in program history, and first ever back-to-back victories. They weren't done yet. The Railsplitters tallied what was arguably the biggest win in program history to this point, defeating conference opponent Wingate 1-0 in a shootout situation on senior day, securing the program's third straight win in a row. Although Lincoln Memorial fell in its final three contests in 2024, the growth was evident and the excitement already began to compound for the 2025 season, leading to what would be the highest preseason conference ranking in program history.
The Railsplitters return four foundational players in the 2025 season. Defenders
Olivia Rosini,
Brooke Foster,
Kiara Aleskovich, and
Guadalupe Montaldo return for another season of field hockey with Lincoln Memorial. Foster and Rosini each played in the Railsplitters' inaugural season of field hockey competition in 2022, with Montaldo and Aleskovich each arriving as freshmen in 2023. All four have solidified themselves as stout defenders, great leaders, and knowledgeable players. Rosini and Montaldo were named "Players to Watch" by the conference on Thursday alongside newcomers
Cayla Wiggins,
Jolie Plaisier, and
Kelsey Beauchamp.
Lincoln Memorial opens the 2025 campaign on the road at Maryville (MO) on Sat. September 6 at 11 AM.
