Harrogate, TN – The Lincoln Memorial Women's Tennis team played host to the LMU Invitational scrimmage on Sunday, facing off against Carson-Newman University for their second scrimmage of the fall season.
The day started with doubles matches for the Railsplitters, as the team of Maria Villanueva and Mia Rodriguez went a perfect 3-0 in the morning. Three other teams from LMU would claim multiple wins, as the first doubles team of Lucie Palud and Adriana Pellizzari would earn two wins. The pairings of Marta Melnichenok and Alexandra Ortiz would claim wins in the second and third rounds, along with the team of Carla Ramonet and Rosalie Carrier-Dulac. In total, the Splitters earned wins in 13 out of 17 total doubles matches.
Competition shifted to singles play in the afternoon, as LMU earned wins in eight out of 11 rounds. Melnichenok would earn a win in straight sets out of the second position, while Pellizzari would follow suit from the third position. Both Ortiz and Rodriguez won in two sets over the Eagles from the fifth and sixth position respectively, while Laura Nastrini took the win out of the seventh position in three sets. Villanueva, Mar Garcia Bucosa, and Reagan Clay-Booth rounded out the wins for the Railsplitters in singles competition.
Lincoln Memorial will compete in their third fall tournament from September 26th to September 29th, traveling to Sumter, South Carolina for the ITA Regionals.
