Sumter, SC – The Lincoln Memorial Women's Tennis team competed in the ITA Southeast Regional Championship this weekend hosted by the University of North Georgia in Sumter, SC. Five Railsplitters were sent to compete in the tournament, with two doubles teams and four individuals competing in the tournament.  

Marta Melnichenok and Alexandra Ortiz represented the Splitters in the main doubles draw, earning a win in the opening round over their competition from Carson-Newman University 8-4. The B draw for women's doubles saw the team of Adriana Pellizzari and Lucie Palud make it to the semifinals, defeating their opponents from Erskine College 8-4 in the opening round before moving past a team from Francis Marion to make the semifinals.  

In the primary singles draw, both Melnichenok and Pellizzari would make it to the second round of the tournament, with Melnichenok defeating her opponent from Tusculum in three sets while Pellizzari earned a win in straight sets over her opponent from Belmont Abbey.  

The singles B draw featured three Railsplitters, with Rosalie Carrier-Dulac, Ortiz and Palud facing competition. Carrier-Dulac would dispatch her opponent from Coker in two sets before taking her quarterfinals match to three sets. Ortiz would earn a win over her opponent from Newberry in the first round of the consolation bracket.  

The Railsplitters will face their final fall opponent as they compete in the Tusculum Invitational starting October 10 and running through the 12th.
